Sierra's POV
I woke up to the sound of some idiot mowing his lawn down the street. Gosh, it's like 8 in the morning dude. Some people are trying to sleep. I groan and get out of bed. As I make my way downstairs I hear my parents talking in hushed tones. I slowly creep down the stairs, curious to hear what they're talking about.
"But Jim! He's a nice boy!" my mom says to my dad.
"I don't care. All teenage boys are the same. Irresponsible and hormonal" my dad scoffs. "Who knows what could happen"
"I think we should let her, this would be a great opportunity. Plus, she won't be happy if she finds out from him that we wouldn't let her go" she tries to persuade my dad. What the heck are they talking about?
"That's true..." my dad ponders for a moment. "But still, he's a teenage boy"
"It's not all about him. What about her?! Do you not trust HER?" my mom challenges.
"Of course I trust her"
"Then I think you should let her go. I for one want her to" my mom says sweetly. "And they're not going to be the only ones there! There will be adults, other boys, AND other girls" she adds. There is silence.
"Fine." my dad huffs. "But if anything happens, I won't be happy" he states, clearly not happy that my mother won the argument. The question is what was it about? There is more silence. I take this as my cue to enter the kitchen. I act like I didn't hear anything.
"Hi mom. Hi dad" I smile at them, grabbing cereal from the pantry.
"Good morning sweetheart" my mom smiles at me.
"What's going on with you guys?" I ask nonchalantly secretly hoping they'll tell me what they were just discussing.
"Nothing really..." my mom stops. "Actually, honey" she looks at my dad. "Can you make that phone call we were talking about earlier?"
My dad looks up from the paper, not fully understanding what my mother is talking about until she gives him a hard stare. "Ohhh, yeah. Uh- that... phone call" he says awkwardly.
When he walks out I look at my mother, "What was that about?" I can't help the curiosity flourishing inside of me.
"Oh, just a call for work" she smiles at me. I know she's lying though. It was obviously about what they were talking about earlier, but I decide not to press the subject otherwise she would know that I heard them.
"Okay, well I'm going to go upstairs" I look at her suspiciously. I walk away slowly, cautiously looking around as if something will soon pop out and scare me.
"Okay Hun" she smiles at me. I get upstairs and when I'm finally in my room, I hear my phone buzzing. I sit on my bed and look at the screen. It's Nash.
