"Mr. Fenton, would you like to explain why you're late again?" Asked the slightly overweight teacher at the head of the classroom. The teenager at the doorway froze, unable to think of a reasonable excuse.

"I'm sorry Mr. Lancer," Danny said, hoping the subject could just be dropped. Lucky for him, the teacher needed to make an announcement to the class and it couldn't wait any longer. Sighing, the teacher sent his student to his seat before talking again.

"As you all should know," Mr. Lancer started, "this class will be having a field trip in a week. The mayor has chosen and funded this trip, so we must all be on our best behaviour if we wish to return again next year. Now for this trip's location, we will be going to the confirmed Ghost Zone. After the events of the Diasteroid, scientists have proven it's existence as a mirror world to our own dim-"

Danny had missed his chair, hitting the floor in shock. Why shock? The teacher didn't know, but other students thought they did.

"What's wrong Fentina?" asked Dash, the school quarterback. "Scared of ghosts? If I were to meet a ghost, I'd use my amazing muscles to beat it into next year!"(IDK how to do Dash. Halp)

Thoughts of how Dash would cower at the sight of any ghost ran though the teacher's mind. The teacher decided to intervene here, stopping the bully from further teasing the other student. While he many not have stopped Dash in previous years, due to his status in the school, recent events have shown that Danny is also more than meets the eye. He thought that Dash would at least have a begrudging respect for the boy that helped come up with the plan to save the world.

"Mr. Baxter, remain silent unless spoken to," Mr. Lancer said, giving a pointed look to the bully. Looking back to Danny, who was now looking uncomfortable in his seat, Lancer was curious. What was the cause to the boy falling out of his seat and interrupting his class? Yes, Danny was known to be very clumsy, but he seemed to have fallen at the news of the trip. "As for you Mr. Fenton, I would like you to meet me at the end of school today."

Danny groaned silently at the thought of meeting the English teacher after school. As Mr. Lancer continued to inform the students of the upcoming trip, Danny thought of what had kept him late in the first place. He had overslept just a little longer than he should have, but would have still been able to make it to class had it not been for the Box Ghost having tried to haunt the citizens of Amity Park. While tuning out the rest of the class, the thought of him having to meet with Mr. Lancer finally hit him, and when it hit him, it hit like a bullet. The last time he had to see the teacher alone in his class, was when he was trying to raise up his grade after his failed test. That was also the same day that Technus had tried to gain total access to the internet. If another ghost tried to do something evil again today... Danny didn't think that he'd be able to get away this time to save the day.

Danny walked into the classroom at the end of the day. His friends, Sam and Tucker, had wanted to wait for him, but he urged them to go home saying that he'll see them during patrol later that night.

Mr. Lancer was at his desk, sitting in his chair and holding the picture that had made Danny want to succeed so long ago. When he noticed Danny, he turned the picture around to face the younger boy. "Did anyone ever figure out that my 'sister' was actually just me in a dress?"

At that, Danny had to chuckle. "I didn't know at first, Mr. Lancer. After a while I realized, you never had a sister and I had been tricked by my own teacher." He walked up to the desk and looked Mr. Lancer in the eyes. "What is it you wanted to talk to me about, Mr. Lancer?"

Setting down the picture, Mr. Lancer folded his hands and sighed. "Mr. Fenton, when you first walked through the doors of Casper High, you held your head up high and with confidence. You started your first weeks out so strong, remaining at an A to B- at average. Then everything went down the drain. You missed classes if you didn't come in late, fell asleep during tests, came to school injured. You seem to be doing a bit better now, but you still seem to be struggling with something. What happened? Is everything alright in your household?"

Danny's eyes widened. Yes, he had been sleep deprived from the late night ghost fights, and he tried his hardest to study and pass his tests. He was a Junior now, seventeen, he had to try harder. He just didn't think that his teacher had noticed his struggling from before and still now. "Y-yeah, Mr. Lancer, everything's f-fine at home," Danny stuttered though the sentence, Making his teacher raise an eyebrow. Taking a deep breath and letting it out before starting again, Danny said,"Everything is fine at home, Mr. Lancer. I appreciate the concern but there is no reason to wo-"

Before he could finish his sentence, a blue wisp floated through his lips, seen by both himself and his teacher. He froze. He needed to get out of this room now. "Mr. Lancer, there is no reason worry, so can I go now? I should really be going home at this time, and"

Smash

"Come out, come out wherever you are, Whelp!" Taunted a very familiar voice. "I told you. You're worth so much more now. You've saved your world and mine, your a halfa, and while you may have helped me escape prison, you're still worth so much! Your pelt will look perfect at the foot of my bed!"

Danny paled. The ghost hunter had come at possibly the worst time to try to show his greatness. With Mr. Lancer here, he may have to risk telling his secret. Looking to the older teacher, he took on a commanding voice. "We have to leave. Now."

"You can't escape me, Whelp! You're too slow! I am Skulker! The Ghost Zone's greatest hunter! Prepare to perish at me hand!" Yelled the ghost hunter, as he blast the door to the room open with a rocket. Skulked smirked at the ghost boy, not noticing the teacher also in the room, shooting an ectoblast at Danny. Danny unable to react fast enough to move out of the line of fire was flung across the room in the process. Still in his human form, he started to bleed from the shot wound in his shoulder. Running to his pupil at his fastest speed, Mr. Lancer gasped at the sight of the red blood, but that wasn't what shocked him. What shocked him was the small green bits of ectoplasm mixed in with the blood.

Skulker shot his gun again, believing that his new equipment had knocked his opponent unconscious. As the shot neared the two targets, one being unintentional, a wall of ice encased them, shielding them from the blast. Inside the dome, a teacher was on the floor with wide eyes, looking at his savior, Danny Fenton. An arm was raised with an icy blue hand, and eyes glowing brighter than before lit up the dark dome. As the blue faded away, a shining white light took it's place. In the spot that Danny Fenton once sat, was Danny Phantom, hero of Amity Park, Ghost Zone, and Earth.

Still bleeding, but with more ectoplasm in his wound than blood, Danny stood up with his own ectoblast in his hand, and leaving Lancer with many questions, phased through the wall to fight the ghost. As the last sounds of battle were heard, and the cries of an angry ghost vanished, the ice dome came down.

Standing in the middle of a destroyed classroom stood Danny Phantom, looking like he was just caught stealing a cookie from Jack Fenton. Only this situation was much worse.

So that was the first chapter. Hope you liked it. Comment and let me know what you think! I don't have a schedule and school starts soon, so updates won't be very frequent. As you might have guessed, yes this is a field trip story. An often used promt, but I'm determined to beat the cliches.
