Hello dear readers and thank you for stopping by to check out my new short story, FEED!
As with many of my short horror stories, FEED has come to life, mainly to help me get over writer's block, which has a tendency to sucker punch me right in the gut every time I finish the larger projects, in this case, The Whitechapel Chronicles.
After finishing TWC, I started writing another urban fantasy, this time a standalone, instead of a series, and after reaching over 20k - BAM - I stopped. It happens like this, don't ask me why, but it does, and so, inevitably I turn to short stories to help me get back into the swing of things.
FEED was initially inspired by the film RAW - for those not familiar with it - it's French-Belgian flick, about a vegetarian who enrols in a veterinary school, and following a weird initiation ritual, ends up developing a craving for raw meat. A craving for raw rabbit kidney, turns into a craving for raw chicken, which develops into a craving for human meat - and if that hasn't given you a clue as to where FEED is heading, I don't know what else will ;-)
Anyway, just a little warning before we start, there'll definitely be some blood, but this isn't a vampire story (for those of who who might be expecting that). It IS a love story, but perhaps not quite a Harper and Megan, or even a Sarah & Michael. There might be a rat or ten. It'll either make you want to cover everything in bacterial spray, vomit into a bucket, or possibly both. You might NOT want to eat while reading.
It's a strange thing, posting new stories - it's a bit exciting, but mostly, pretty bloody nerve-racking, and it really does make you appreciate every read, vote and comment, so huge thanks to YOU for reading, and if you enjoy, please do hit the star button and let me know what you think.
