Skull Witch

Part 1: The Spell

I felt pain in my lungs, like one billion needles being nailed on their surface and trying to tear apart my lungs. Air felt heavier than one ton of iron. Breathing, was something that I wanted to stop doing each second time took —although it was one of my primordial needs as Mother's creature— it felt like fire burning my throat and inside my lungs.

The flavor of copper and salt invaded my taste buds on my tongue when I bit my inner cheek.

My knees were weak. After running for hours, I could swear that at any moment my bones would break into peaces. Each step that I took, was like walking in a rough surface of rock with bare feet.

I collapsed against the ground —banging my face against the soil— hearing my nose break as glass would do. Bullets flew over me with the intention of harming my soul, and heard the voices of the beasts get louder than lions.

At least I dodged them, but not in the best way...

I tried to stand up again, but my ankles failed me and fell again.

"Freeze!" shouted one of them —pointing at me with their guns— prepared to pull the trigger.

"Agatha Rothfeather, in the name of the law, you're under arrest! you can't run away from us anymore, don't make things harder"

"I do sin, but I'm no devil" spoke when I finally found my voice "You are good, but no angels" my voice became louder.

The guards looked confused, staring at me trying to understand my words. But little did they know, that they weren't simple words.

The sky became cloudless, letting the stars shine like one billion torches and the moon being the sun of this sacred night.

"The moon has awoken with the sleep of the sun" I made sure that my voice could be heard by every guard that was trying to take me as a hostage ",the light has been broken...."

I smiled with victory. My wounds have been cured by the light of the lost souls. I felt my bones became stronger and my skin thicker.

"...the spell has begun."
