I had discovered that Wyatt liked to go outside. I would take him with me to the park sometimes and he would jump around, trying to catch crickets. It was so precious to watch him hop through the grass.
Scott would join me at the park sometimes too, he loves Wyatt. His face practically lights up when he sees the kitten. He would play with him while I was practicing, then, when I couldn't take how cute it was, I would join the two.
Scott and I grew closer as summer came to a close. We talked about our schedules for school. Scott decided to join the orchestra. He is getting a cello soon, which I am beyond excited about. I also told Kevin about our new cellist and he's pretty thrilled as well.
Today, it was raining and I was waiting for the rain to stop so I could take my violin to the park. I decided that it probably wouldn't end in the next two seconds, so, to save myself from boredom, I texted Scott.
Mitch: Hiya Scottie
Scott: Oh hey Mitch, what's up?
Mitch: I'm bored and I can't go out to practice...
Scott: Oh, well.... you can always practice at home can't you?
Mitch: Yeah, but it's not the same
Scott: If it makes you feel better, you can come over here...
Mitch: Really? I can't bring my violin, but yeah, I'd love to come over
Scott: Great, do you have an umbrella?
Mitch: Afraid not, dang it...
Scott: Alright, I'll come over with an umbrella and we can walk back to my house?
Mitch: What a gentleman!
Scott: Riiiiiiiiiiiiight
Mitch: 😂😂😂
Scott: Alright, see ya in a bit!
Mitch: Okay, bye
I set down my phone and went to look out the door. This was a strange way of handling things, but also very amusing. Any second now, he would see Scott walking down the street in the pouring rain.
Speak of the devil, Scott was walking down the street in the pouring rain, with a large blue umbrella. He walked up to my front door and I opened it.
"Hiya Mitchy," Scott smiled brightly and gestured for me to go outside with him.
I smiled back at him and walked out. "Sorry that this is so inconvenient."
"It's no trouble, I promise," Scott smiled again and I couldn't help but smile back. His smile was so warm and happy that I doubt anybody could stay mad at him for too long.
He pulled me closer to him and I looked up at him. He looked back at me, "I don't want you to get rained on."
I nodded and smiled a bit. We kept walking and didn't talk for the rest of the way. I just bathed in Scott's warmth for the short trip.
Once we arrived at Scott's place, his sister came up to my and hugged my waist. I bent down to her level, "Hello Lauren," I said in the sweetest, most child-friendly tone I could muster. She giggled and ran off. I shook my head at her fondly as she ran away.
"Sorry about my sister, she'll do that at least once every time you come over..." He smiled nervously.
"Aw, it's nothing, she's adorable," I smiled back. Scott shrugged and led me up to his bed room.
I followed happily and closed the door behind us.
"So, what do you want to do?" Scott looked at me.
"It just dawned on me that I have no idea what we should do," I say and raise my thumb to my lip in thought.
Scott shrugs and says, "I mean, we could just talk."
I nod, "Yes, but what to talk about?"
"My cello is coming soon, I got a picture of it because I thought you might want to see it," Scott tells me and pulls out his phone.
I look over his should and see a picture of a brightly colored cello.
"Wow, it's a very pretty color!" I exclaim.
"Yeah, I suppose it is," Scott shrugs again. "I'm excited to start playing, I want to be as good as you one day. It'll take a while, but I'll get there..."
"Of course you will! I'm excited for you to start too!" I hug him suddenly. "You won't regret it, I promise!" I pull back and smile at him.
"I didn't know you were excited for me to start playing..." Scott rubs the back of his neck.
I punch him in the shoulder playfully, "C'mon, I'm super excited!"
He laughs a bit and I laugh with him. He then, out of the blue, says, "Knock knock!"
I raise and eyebrow and skeptically ask, "Who's there?"
"Apple," Scott starts to giggle a bit.
I roll my eyes, "Apple who?"
"Apple, apple, apple, banana!" He nearly shouts as he gestures his hands as though he's holding the fruits. Scott throws his head back in laughter, then looks at me for a reaction.
I roll my eyes so hard that my retinas detach and I go completely blind. That might be a slight stretch of the truth, but that's what it felt like.
"That one was good!" Scott gasped as though offended.
I look at him and raise an eyebrow, then pick up my phone and hold it to me ear, "Hi, yeah, sure I can talk!" I hold up a finger to Scott, "It's my manager, this will only be a minute."
He stares at me in disbelief, then bursts out laughing. I join him involuntarily, I just couldn't stop myself. His laugh is so contagious.
Just a cute little filler. I'm sorry that it's crap!
Alright, see ya l8r alligator!
