It is still said in Brightleaf that Lilibeth Faren is a bad omen. Of course, you might think that stupid, depending on the tales you've heard. Some say that on the day she was born, her mother had died, buried in an unmarked grave with no marble marker to remember her by. But others say that even in the blackest forests, the trees parted at the sound of her cries, and the townsfolk celebrated with tins of marigold candy and bottles of red ale.
You might believe either one of those tales, or you might believe none of them. The truth has many faces, after all. It would be wise to pour yourself a cup of hot tea, read this story, and decide whether or not Lilibeth Faren is a witch to be cursed or a god to be extolled.
It is all up to you, dear reader.
