"Nuh-uh! Not happening" I keep seeing amber in my head,how adamant she was.... and how much it fucking hurt!
I stayed at my mum and dad's last night on the couch after helping dad with putting some of the Christmas decorations back in the loft after the talk I had with my mum....
She was surprised when I turned up at the house,but happy
"Hey my baby boy,how you doing?" She asks me as hugs and kisses my cheek
"Am good mum" I say smiling,she looks behind me searching
"No amber?" She asks
"Nah! I left her at Eva's house,Eva & Justin have just gotten engaged" I tell mum as we walk in the house
She gasps happily "Oh that's fantastic news" she grins happily
"Eva might be pregnant too" I tell her as I sit at the kitchen table,mum sits next to me
She gasps again "Oh my goodness,such wonderful news" she grins happily again "But Russ tell me why are you so sad? Tell me what's wrong!" She asks rubbing my back soothingly like she did when I was younger
"Amber doesn't wanna marry or have kids" I blurt out
Her eyes widen in shock at first then she must see something in my eyes confirming it for her....She smiles sadly "And you do" she confirms for me
I nod slowly "Well not now,I mean we haven't long been going out you know,but I love her so damn much mum,and it fucking killed me to hear her say she doesn't want what I want" I sigh sadly
"I don't know what to do mum" I say putting my face in my palms
"Does she love you?" Mum asks
I nod "it took a while for her to admit it but she does,she's been hurt by some prick in the past mum...she hasn't told me much about it,just that he hurt her badly,not physically but you know....in here and here" I say gesturing to my head and my heart
"Maybe that has something to do with it then Russ....you have to understand baby boy,if amber has been hurt so badly before...she's going to be reluctant to want to open herself up to be hurt again" mum tells me "be patient with her Russ,you got her to say i love you,in time she'll want what you want...you just gotta be patient." She squeezes my arm
I get a text and I take it out to see and it's from amber...
My baby: Hey baby! Hope everything's okay with your mum,call me when you can x
I smile and then instantly feel guilty by leaving her so suddenly...
"So while your here,you fancy doing your old mum and dad a few favours?" Mum asks
I'll text amber back in a bit I think to myself as I pocket my phone
"Sure what's up?" I ask mum
"Well,we've taken down some of the Christmas decorations...you know the lights from the windows and stuff...we're leaving the tree up till the 6th January,you know the whole 12 days before Christmas...12 days after Christmas malarkey" she tells me with a wave of a hand
