World War II, Europe, 1941
The Blood Wolf was a name whispered across war-torn Europe, in hushed tones and soft breaths, a ghost of a legend on secretive lips.
Blutwolf.
The Nazis cursed him with sharp tongues of malice and wicked mouths dripping with venom. They spat it with fury to silence their chagrin, their raging souls fueled by hatred. The name, for some, was spoken as their last shuddering breath, a haunting lament.
Loup de sang.
The people of France spoke about him sparingly, secrecy softening their words. The Resistance murmured his name with a hint of hope, absurd ideas of heroism carried along with the rumors. It sparked the flame of rebellion in many hearts, feeding the inferno that became the French Resistance.
Blood Wolf.
The name instilled a sense of hope among the skeletal prisoners of the concentration camps. New prisoners brought stories and news of the Blood Wolf and his recent rebellions. It spilled from their lips like ink on a page, writing the story for decades to come.
Regardless of what language they spoke the name in, the Blood Wolf was a symbol for France. Freedom was possible, but only if they were willing to fight for it.
They fought and bled in the name of the Blood Wolf.
