Evan sat in his room, his mom in there with him. She was talking about colleges again even though Evan thought it was a bit earlier too try to get into any colleges. He had just finished his sophomore year and was about too go into junior year.
"Hey mom, I'll just go on a walk and think about this. Okay?" He wasn't actually going too think about it. He wanted to just get outside and look at the trees. Evan loved trees and he is more calm when he has them around.
"Of course! Maybe you'll think of a different, great idea. Just remember that I'm proud of you! Oh and by the way I have work tonight, so when I get back take your pills and maybe order a pizza? I'll leave 25 dollars here for you." Evan nodded and walked out of the room, too the house door and then too the outside world. Where should I go? Evan thought too himself. Ah! I know! He thought of the perfect, most beautiful place he knew around his neighborhood. Now many people went there so he liked it a lot.
When he got there he sat near the lake that was there. It was quiet and the lake was still. The sun was setting and he felt at peace. Splash. Evan quickly looked at the water. Nothing. Weird, maybe it was a fish? I never see any fish here though. Evan looked back at the sky- Splash! Woah that splash was a lot louder.
"Hello human." A man with long brown hair emerged from the water. "U-uh hi. Why are you in the w-water?" Evan was nervous, he didn't know that there was a random guy in the lake. Though, he was kind of cute.
"I live here," The guy lifted his lower side, revealing a mermaid tail. "I kinda need the water." The mermaid laughed. Evan was shocked. Weren't mermaid just a fairy tale? "W-wow that's i-interesting." The mermaid boy started too get aggravated. "What? Do you think I'm a freak? You do don't you! Everyone who ever sees me thinks of me as a freak! Even other mermaids!" He yelled. Evan was scared, he didn't want anyone mad at him.
"N-no! I think you're cool! U-uh what's your name?" Nice going Evan, now he probably think a that you're scared of him. The mermaid was quick too answer the question. "I'm Connor. What's yours?" Evan hesitated. Should he really start befriending a mermaid of all things? "I'm Evan, E-Evan Hansen." Connor nodded. "What a cute name."
Months went by a Connor and Evan were still friends. Evan would go visit him a couple times a week and bring him cool human things. One day he would bring food like candy or a dragon fruit, other days he would bring some human "gadget" like markers and some paper. It was always just him and Connor. Nobody too bother them or call anyone a freak. Evan loved it. By the end of the year, Connor and Evan knew everything about each other. Except maybe that they both had some sort of crush on each other, but for now they were happy just too hangout by themselves and enjoy their company.
