"What was that all about Charlotte!" it has been a week since the last time I saw her. What happened with that boy kept replaying in my mind all the time. His voice still haunting me.

"Listen Cole, I know what happened that night was weird, but it was nothing really." usually I would believe her, but I had a hard time believing her this time, I need a proper explanation.

"just tell me what happened? why was he screaming!" my voice was louder then I intended for it to be.

"okay, Kevin had a surgery in his spine a month ago and that night pain struck him, the doctor said it could happen and we should immediately take him to the hospital once it did."

That was too easy, on normal circumstances she isn't that easily compelled to talk. I knew she wasn't telling the truth. "oh okay and did you study that answer or just made it up now? Charlotte what is going on, you can trust me."

"I can't, I just can't. Listen Cole I'm sorry about everything but we have to take a break, I am too complicated and I'm not right for you, I have to go" her eyes watering up, tears sliding down her cheeks. she walks away, no runs away, and I am left alone in the cafeteria, my body aches like I've been hit by a train and then by a truck.

I keep going back to that dinner, analysing everything, trying to find something that could help me figure out what went wrong. But I keep getting distracted by that awful memory, the day she broke up with me. I feel the need to scream like kevin did that night, to see if the pain fades, if the memory fades. but I don't. I don't want to forget it, I won't give up that easily. I love her. I decide to go to her place, to get answers.

the sky is pure black with only half the moon lighting my way. I drive to her house, at the gate the mysterious man doesn't answer. so I step out and climb the gate. nothing will stop me from getting the answers. I land on the other side, and sprint along the long road. the house appears and starts getting bigger as I get closer. when I am at the threshold, I search for Charlotte's room window. I throw tiny pebbles at it until the room lightens. Charlotte opens the window wide eyed. "What the hell are you doing?! Are you crazy!" she says whispering.

"I need answers" I whisper back.

"can't you just forget about me?" she says mostly annoyed and tired. but sad, I hope she's sad.

"if I have to leave you then at least let me know the real reason!!"

she closes the window, turns the light off, and after a while, she stepped out to the threshold. "okay wanna know the truth, here it is."
