I had gotten out of the hospital a week before going back to school. I remembered almost everyone. Some who were in a different grade than me were unfamiliar, but the doctor said it was normal. My best friend from childhood had given me a welcome back party.

And then I got the note.

I let the words resonate in my mind for awhile.

But everyone was so busy celebrating that the surgery had worked and I felt content.

So I forgot about the letter, thinking it was just a joke.

Until I got another note the very next day.
