Our group has been starving for awhile. I guess I forgot to mention that. Our leader CT. Irwin is holding a meeting for everyone in the pack to come. Me and Aj have to go hunting soon. Which I absolutely dread with all this mud outside.
It rained and poured. I looked out the window of the big room. Mesmerized by the rain that fell.
A sound of familar laughter came across. I turned to see Aj walking down laughing her ass off. Michael stared at her like she was crazy. He tried to calm her down. In fear of
CT.Irwin punishing him.
"Whatsup dude," Michael raised his hand for a high five. I high fived him back of course. He went to take a seat next to me then Aj swooping under him, stealing the seat.
"Are you serious Adrienne?"
"Hey don't call me that. It gives me vietnam flashbacks of when Ashton made me-"
Michael covered her mouth. "Shhhh. CT. Ashhole might hear you."
Ashton was one of the mates before well. His dad died and he had to be the next leader. Now he takes everything so serious. And uses old fashion punishments if you do something bad.
And yes that does mean getting whipped by Ashton Irwin.
Probably the most awkward thing you'll ever endure. The only one who ever gets away with stuff is Calum.
One after another the room filled with people from ages 6 to old as shit.
Younger kids were in the 'nursery'
As soon as Ashton came out his eyes darted over to us. Calum, did what Calum does and mouthed 'Step on it daddy'
Ashton then quickly turned glancing over at everyone.
"Greetings everyone, i'm sorry. But there is some bad news I have to say."
Everyone shifted around and looked at eachother. All of the little kids were confused.
"We are running low on our need of living." Blood.
I was too oblivious to realize at first.
But now everything kinda went together. The fights with other packs. Less and less snacks of blood or just about anything. More people being sent out to hunt.
Ashton went on about what we now have to do about it. Why he thinks it has happened. All that good shit.
But yet, of course. There was another problem.
Vampire hunters.
Ruthless human beings. They dont care who you are, or how old you are.
They will hunt you down. However they have too. I found myself worrying about everyone. The innocent kids. Who didn't choose this. Gerard, just a guy with a shitty life that happened to get bit. Michael and Calum two guys who were born into the world like this. And Aj another person just born into this earth as a vampire. They didn't choose this. They don't want to hurt people.
We have too hurt people.
I looked back at Calum.
"I'm gonna go head to my dorm. I'll see you two buckaroos later." Calum announced. He pinched my cheek. As he turned around and headed upstairs.
I looked at Aj as she picked at her nails. A bad habit she had gotten from me.
"You ready to hunt?"
"Maybe after a few hits of caffeine."
I swung the old string bag over my shoulder. As Aj put the pocket knife in her belt loop. My mind always seems to do this thing where it would remember moments. Maybe I regret or don't remembering when I need to focus. It's like torture, if it's an embarrassing memory or a traumatizing one.
The normal girls at the back of the gate which lead in to a huge and wild forest open the gates for us.
The moment those gates opened. Me and Aj ran. We smiled like the world was neverending. As we felt the bitter air against our cheeks. We connected so we wouldn't lose eachother. It truly felt amazing to go out into the real world. To hear the twigs snap below us. Once we got into a hunting spot. We calmed down.
Little did I know what was going to happen.
Aj set her bag down as I set down mine. I took the small pouch of blood from my bag and sipped some. Letting the warm red liquid slither down my throat. Then I handed it to Aj, who did the same.
"Remember when Calum and Michael told us the kool aid man was really full of blood, and that he was just handing blood out to all those little humans." Aj asked.
"Oh my god yes." I remembered. "We were so freaked out man. They could come up to us and do a kool aid man impression and we would scream." Aj would always manage to remember something and hit a soft spot.
What we both forgot to mention was that the boys did really care about us when we were younger. I remember if they went too far Ashton would make them apologize. He would always come up to us and calm us down.
I noticed the winds start blowing harder. My hair was getting in a tangled mess as I sat here. I stood up from the ground and started to look around.
"I hear a boy singing." I said to Aj in a low whisper like voice.
"No, no its coming from over here Sav." Aj pulled two tree branches apart. That was when we saw him.
A blonde boy rested up against the tree. His eyes were paying attention to the ground.
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
We quickly shut the branches before he could look over. I saw the smirk growing on Aj's face as she got some rope and her pocket knife.
She looked at me. "Jackpot."
"No!" I found myself saying a little too loud. "Please Aj we can't hurt him, look at him. Does he deserve this?"
"Savannah I know you're super sensitive about this. But our group needs food. You've done this so many times before." Aj argued. I have done this before. But this boy I just knew i couldn't.
"Please Aj he is different."
"I'm hungry."
