To Kill // Part 2

Start from the beginning

But that was all I needed. This was the moment I had been waiting for. The perfect distraction I'd been dying for since the start.

What's the best way to avoid a bullet when you know you don't possess The Flash's speed?

Yup, you duck.

And that's exactly what I did. Jerking my leg at the same time, my foot connected with Nathan's knee, unbalancing him for a just a second but he didn't fall.

I hadn't expected him to.

After all, he was one trained bastard unlike his sister. But his two seconds diversion was all I needed to get in action.

The adrenaline ran too high in my body, numbing every single injury as I thought of the golden chance I had to put one of the America's most notorious asshole behind bars.

Taking advantage of his shocked state, my foot connected with his wrist, disarming him within a minute. The gun fell and I kicked it further away from us.

Now both unarmed, we circled each other, watching the other for their weaknesses, waiting for an opening to attack.

"How's your knee, Alora?" Nathan spoke, his face holding a smirk while his eyes hoped for a slip up.

I rolled my eyes, answering him with a casual flick of hair.

"You're the second person to ask that in an hour, Nathan. Is my knee some hot commodity in illegal world or what?"

I hadn't finished my sentence when Nathan struck, stepping forward as he went for a punch on my injured rib but I duck, dodging easily while stepping back.

"Oh no, darling. It's just with your mother gone, you're the only way to release all our endorphins." Nathan smirked, continuing when he saw my jaw clench as he took it as an opportunity to carry his assault.

"Do you remember Christmas eve, Alora?"

"The same Christmas eve when I almost killed you? Of course, how can I forget such a memorable night?" I retorted back, praying that my voice didn't waver, didn't give away the turmoil of memories threatening to rise inside of me.

Nathan smiled softly back at me, his voice barely audible as he uttered the next words.

"No darling, the Christmas eve one when they killed your mother."

The second the words left his mouth, I staggered back as if hit with an intangible force just as the memories flashed in front of my mind.

He smiled, knowing he'd hit a nerve as he took it as his final opening, breaking through my defense as he struck.

Once again, I found myself in a headlock with Nathan's muscled arm wrapped tightly around my neck, cutting my oxygen supply as adrenaline finally left me, the fatigue catching up.

My breathing ragged, my brain focusing on keeping me alive as my body collapsed.

"Give my humble greetings to your mother. And do tell her to slack off of her lecherous ways."

His words hit me like a jolt. Striking home with a force so strong that my body tensed for a second before I snapped.

He had absolutely no idea what he'd done. The mistake he'd made when he'd uttered those words.

"Or here's a thought, how about you do it yourself."

My body heated from pure rage, my vision blurred to the point all I could see was Nathan while my brain refused to comprehend anything other than the bastard dead.

My head moved at its own accord, driving home in Nathan's nose as my elbow wedged painfully in his gut constantly until he loosed his hold.

He grunted in pain, shock masking his face momentarily and I took it as my opportunity.

For the second time tonight, I rose from my slumped position but even a blind man could see the difference in my stance this time.

It was wild, dangerous and 101 forbidden in agency's rule book but fuck if I cared.

My eyes roamed all over the place, searching and finding the gun lying somewhere behind Nathan where I'd kicked it.

I moved behind Nathan, my foot slamming in his back and he fell, not anticipating my move.

What exactly happened in the next few minutes is still a mystery to me when I jumped on top of him, forgetting my initial plan.

I don't remember hearing a single shout of my name by a certain someone. I don't remember the horrified shrieks of Natalie and I certainly don't remember the screeching of multiple cars.

But what I do remember is my body obeying only one command; to kill.

Gradually, Nathan's groans quietened into silence, his body going limp beneath me as it stopped its struggle.

"Alora!"

Someone jerked on my shoulder, pushing me away from the body and I turned, fist raised to fight but my eyes widened, my body shivering at his touch as my eyes connected with glinting green ones.

I blinked rapidly, breaking from my trance as what I'd almost done registered in my brain.

My stomach flipped, my body shaking as the guilt settled deep down in my heart.

My lips trembled as my fingers moved expeditiously pressing steadily against Nathan's neck.

Hoping against hope that I hadn't done the one thing I'd vowed myself to never to do.

Kill a man.
