A beat passed as the man took his time in lifting his head, his eyes blazing with rage so raw that even the almighty Nathan behind me shivered, stepping back an inch.

The temperature dropped right there on the road. Tension cackling through every molecule of the air.

"That, was a very wrong move, mate. You shouldn't anger a man with your sister's life in his hand. It leads to bad things."

The words weren't out of his mouth when he struck. The knife he had to Natalie's throat moving at lightning speed as his arm moved. He plunged it deep within her thigh in the same exact position she'd hit me.

He smiled a shit-eating grin at Nathan, who stood behind me with eyes wide like a saucer ball in horror, as the man dragged the knife downwards in a straight line, tearing through Natalie's thigh flesh with an ease of opening a bag of chips.

And I swear, even from this far, I heard the sound of it piercing through Natalie's flesh.

Natalie cried out in pain, her shrieks echoing around us, on the empty road as her knees buckled beneath her.

She fell on her knees, her eyes screwed shut against the pain. Her position mirroring mine now on the floor.

The man looked down at her bowed at his knees as he bend down to her level, smiling like a mad man as he whispered the next words loud and clear for everyone to hear within 10 mile radius.

"Tit for tat, baby."

He stood again, reaching his full height as he stared above my head, straight at Nathan with a face blank from any previous hints of a smile being there.

"As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, I have a preposition. You ready to hear it this time?" He asked with a cockiness only a man who knew exactly what he was doing could possess, and from the looks of it, he knew it quite well.

I felt Nathan nod silently behind me, his jaw clenched shut.

"Okay here it goes, give me Alora and I'll hand your precious sister back to you. Simple as that, what do you say?"

Nathan tensed behind me, his body rigged from the weight of the call he had to make as he stared right into the eyes of his sister.

She shook her head, black tears streaming down her pretty face.

Nathan gritted his teeth, his fingers tightening against my neck as he spat the single word out.

"No."

The man's eyebrows raised in amazement, his lips curling upwards in a deadly smirk as he narrowed his eyes ever so slightly in nothing other than annoyance.

"You Americans. Always making the shittiest decisions. But since the damage's already done. How about I show you what I'm intending to do with her."

It was a rhetorical question which Nathan didn't dare answer.

The man pulled the bloody knife out of Natalie's leg, trailing its bloody tip ever so faintly on every inch of her face as she shuddered heavily.

The world would never know if it was due to the cold wind blowing around us or the loom of pain.

His left hand moved to hold Natalie's head in place, lifting it that her grey, pleading eyes were boring into his merciless green ones as his right hand with the knife reached her collarbone.

He gave her a smile faker than Kim's ass as he applied pressure, driving the knife in just above her collarbone.

Natalie's screams echoed around the hollow road, deafening us in the process as the knife settled peacefully in her flesh, injuring her both shoulders.
