I snatched my shirt and pulled it down to recover my midsection.

"OLACIE, are those...are those bruises?! " he asked with worry and shock rupturing his voice. He even called me by my real name. But that doesn't matter as much at the moment, all I can think of are lousy excuses as to why they're there. I'm screwed.

"I-I uh I fell while carrying some boxes up the stairs! " I nervously blurt out.

"Nani, a fall like that shouldn't leave bruises like those?! " He states obviously unamused by my reasoning.

"Well it did, okay? And who are you to say how my body should and should not respond to things!"  I snapped at him and immediately stood up.

"I'm not, I'm just saying that taking a fall down the staircase in my opinion shouldn't leave you that badly bruised! " He said doing the same as me and standing up.

"I can't believe this...maybe you're the one who doesn't trust me! "

"Now you're just inferring things! "

"Says the one who's trying to make something out of a simply fall down the stairs!"

"Nani, forget it and I do trust you, Goodnight." He simply said and began walking away. I know he's irritated with me regardless of how hard he tries to play it off.

"Marcus wait! " I said, but he didn't hear me. He closed the front door to his house and that was it. Such a great way to regain a friendship. Lie to them then argue with them about your lie. Wait to go Nani!

"Goodnight." I whispered under my breath and dropped my head. Staring at his front door won't do me any good. It's time to focus on my next task anyways, sneaking back into the house.

I checked all the downstairs windows and even hopped our fence to check the back door. Everything was locked. Also, if you're wondering where my phone went...it's still on the roof. So I hope. But right now that is the least of my worries. I can't figure out how to get back in my own dang house. I do know the password to the garage's keypad, but I'm sure the door connected to the house is locked. Plus the garage door opening would be loud. That's when I looked over at the front door. We have a doggie door, if you see what I'm getting at.

This is one of the most craziest ideas I have ever had, but it just might be crazy enough to work. I ran to the door and began sliding my body through the doggie door. It was working until I got to my hips. And here comes another problem. I'm stuck. I grabbed the rug that laid just before the front door and began tugging on it to pull myself in the house. Luckily, the rug was big and heavy. It was working. 'Yes! Yes! Yes! I AM NOT GETTING CAUGHT, NOT TODAY' is what I repeatedly cheered in my head. Then someone just happened to clear their throat ending my celebration. I inhaled sharply, you know that sound you involuntarily make when you get caught and that face you make. Oh that face. That was me, but laying halfway through a doggie door. I looked up to see my Dad with his hands on his hips.

*Next Day*

So, I finally got my phone off the roof...just for it to be taken away. I got grounded. They didn't even listen to my side of the story. I'm allowed to sit on the roof, but they thought I snuck out. Do you really think I would purposely sneak out in only a shirt and underwear? What did they think I would have been up to dressed like that? You know what...forget that last question. Anyhow, I ended up getting grounded for two weeks and school starts in three. It's bad enough I can't meet up with Lucas and Marcus today, but now I can't even contact them about my situation. I really wanted to apologize to Marcus in person, but I can't now. Now, I can't even do it over the phone. That was the second best thing. Luckily, I'm only getting my electronics taken away for a week.

*One week later*

Today is the day. I get my phone and laptop back.

"Nani? " my Mom yelled from downstairs. I really hope this is about me getting back my stuff. I've had no outlets to the outside world. I've just been organizing and unboxing things to kill time. It was fun at first to see my side of the room come together, but quickly became boring.

"Yes, Mom!" I shouted back.

"Come here! "

"Okay. "

I ended up getting all my things back...dead. I immediately plugged my phone up to charge. I've been so impatient without being able to contact the twins, especially Marcus. I felt really bad.

*Twenty minutes later*

My phone was only on thirty seven percent, but that would do. I turned on my phone and it immediately started dinging from all the notifications I missed. I skipped through all of them until I came across some text messages.

#: I'm sorry if I offended you or crossed a boundary between us with the inferences. I should have just taken your word for it and left it alone. Are we still on for tomorrow?

Oh, it's from Marcus. I decided to finally put a contact name in. I then returned back to the messages and scrolled down. The next message was sent three days after the first.

♥Marco the Monkey♥: Nani c'mon please talk to me. I really hope you're not ignoring me.

I immediately called him after reading his messages.

*The phone call*

"Hello?! Marcus?!"

"Um..yeah Nani. "

Then there was silence.

"Nani, look I'm really sor-" He started, but I cut him off.

"No Marcus! I'm the one who should be sorry. I feel really bad about snapping at you the other night. I don't know what came over me!  I'm really sorry! "

"Who said I was apologizing, you didn't let me finish my sentence. I was gonna say I was sore from catching your heavy ass! " He laughed.

"Oh my gosh Marcus! Shut up, I'm not that heavy you're just weak! " I laughed.

"Am not, but you can at least repay me with a walk in the park tomorrow for being your cushion...like you nearly crushed me! " He laughed.

I then explained to him how I was grounded and the reason I wasn't responding to his messages. So, we planned to spend the last week of summer together. I can't wait! He even made sure I knew he was joking about my weight, which I thought was sweet.
