The rest of the school day went on and I didn't cross paths with the twins again until the bus ride home. I took a seat and slid over near the window and began looking out of it. I could tell someone sat down next to me, but I didn't dare to look over to see who it was.

"Nani, I know something happened. So this time don't shut me out, just tell me. "

It was Marcus.

My mind was so captivated with the dispute that I had with Lucas that I thought that was what he was referring to. My heart sank. He knows.

"So, he told you. " I sighed.

"Who? Told me what?... I don't know what you're talking about. I'm talking about when I saw you at the lockers. "

"Oh. " I say raising my eyebrows. I wasn't even thinking about that at this point. But now he has me reliving it. Though I did know that this conversation would eventually surface. I didn't know what to tell him.

"Oh it was nothing! I just got into something with someone. I was just mad. " I say nodding my head to my words. I obviously couldn't tell him the truth. But I really did hate lying to him.

"But I saw you before and you looked fine up until you were walking away. "

I love and hate how persistent he is. Then again best friends are meant to tell each other everything. This use to be so much easier when we were younger and didn't develop serious feelings.

"Uhm, right because the person was Lucas. " I blurt out since I know he saw us at our lockers together.

"Oh. Again? "

"Yeah. "

"I should probably talk to him. "

"No! Don't! " I say frantically.

He looks at me with confusion.

"Because...I don't want to involve you and put you in the middle of it! "

"Oh well...Okay. " He sighs. I think he hates when I don't let him help me.

"Did you get any homework? " He asks.

"Nope! None. "

"Cool, me neither. You wanna hangout then? "

"Um..yea sure! "

"Great! You'll get to meet my girlfriend finally. "

I coughed so hard at those words on accident.

"You alright? " He laughs looking at me confused.

"Oh yeah and sounds good." I force myself to say, feeling a lump form in my throat.

Marcus's phone then dings. He checks it and begins typing.

"Looks like my Mom wants Lucas or I to pick up groceries. You down to ride? "

"Of course! " I say, but really wanted to asks questions about his girlfriend. Like why didn't I know she existed before now? But with the topic change I didn't want to make him suspicious.

All three of us ended up going. I sat in the backseat this time though. When we got there Marcus and I were over covering half of the list and Lucas the other. Basically just to make the trip to the store go faster. But that was also a good excuse to avoid the awkwardness between Lucas and I. So, we split up and Marcus ran over to the shopping carts and started pushing one towards me.
