"Yo, I'm sorry are you okay?! " The figure standing over me asked with concern before reaching out their hand to me.

I couldn't help, but groan from the pain that had jolted through my body.

I hadn't even bothered to look at the person who was helping me up, I just grabbed their hand. I then attempted to assure them I was okay, but stopped when I recognized the familiar face.

"MARCUS?! No way! " I squealed involuntarily.

"Um...Yeahhh? " He said slightly laughing. Confusion was written all over this boy's face. Is he serious? Am I that unrecognizable?

I then looked over his shoulder and there stood Lucas.

"LUCAS! " I nearly screamed with excitement, I couldn't help it.

Lucas then stepped beyond Marcus and looked me directly in the eyes. He looked at me so deeply that it low key freaked me out a little. All of a sudden his eyes just seemed to change in an unexplainable way.

"Nani? " Lucas breathed while slightly leaning forward to get a better look, I assume. I looked back at Marcus who's eyes had widened and smile had grown. And DAMN was his smile gorgeous!

"Nahh! " Marcus said in disbelief.

"Yeah! " I quickly answered confirming their suspicion and looked back at Lucas. He looked happy and disappointed at the same time, if that makes any sense. Before I was able to put much thought into it Marcus was already smothering me in a tight hug. I hugged back even though it kind of hurt saying that I had just taken a hard fall. Once we broke away from the hug I went to hug Lucas. When I wrapped my arms around him he barely returned the gesture with a loose hug. That's weird! He's always been a hugger. At least from what I remembered. You can't tell me the boy is so called "shy" now. That just was never part of his character, if anything Marcus's. We quickly broke away from the awkward hug and the expected questioning began.

"So, Nani when did you get back? " Marcus asked.

"Flew in yesterday! "

"Are you here visiting? "

"Unfortunately..."

"Oh " he said in a disappointed tone.

"Unfortunately, I moved back and you're gonna be stuck with me for awhile! " I cheered and playfully poked his chest.

He squinted his eyes and shook his head at me while laughing.

"You too! " I said looking over to Lucas. I was trying to involve him in the conversation. He just smiled at me weakly.

"Not that I'm complaining in any way, but why did you move back?"  Marcus questioned.

"Oh, well we first were just visiting because my Aunt had grown very ill. Then, her Husband left her! And over time her condition only worsened. My Mom, which is her sister wanted us to move there in hopes of stabilizing and improving her state. Especially since we don't have much family in Cali. And she was only living with her Daughter, who was sixteen at the time. But, that wasn't the case, she passed away in the last three months. And my Parents found it hard to support our family there.Plus we love it here!" I said feeling a lump growing in my throat. I had tried placing a sense of joy back into the conversation with my last words. I felt slightly bad for not being completely honest and giving them the whole story, but I couldn't bare to. And besides not many people know. Then again it wasn't the time or place.

"Oh... I'm really sorry to hear that Nani." Marcus said lightly hugging me and stroking my back. I just nodded.

"It's fine, it's life, ya know?" I said.

Lucas finally spoke up.

"I'm truly sorry for your loss."

"Thanks."

I had changed the subject with confessing to them how much I missed them. And after conversing for awhile we ended up exchanging numbers and finding out we lived in the same neighborhood. We even agreed on hanging out tomorrow. I can't wait!

Oh right! And apparently Marcus was doing a backflip and lost his balance from Lucas warning him to watch out when he knocked me over.
