Monday - September 20

Start from the beginning

Stevens gets up from his chair and says, "Maybe you should be addressing that question to him?" as Stevens points to Dr. Parks.

I turn around and see a man lying with a poultice on his head and his arm restrained. I walk over to get a better look and nearly fall to the floor when I see who it is. "Dr. Parks! Victor?"

I spin around and grab Julie's arm. Stevens steps toward us both when Julie orders him to stop.

"What the hell are you trying to pull here, Julie? Is that Victor Parks? Is Claire's father alive, or has that been a lie, too?" I demand.

"John, sit down. Now!" she orders.

I glance at Stevens and notice his holster underneath his jacket. I look at Dr. Parks, and then see a chair, resting against the wall. I adversely walk towards it and sit down as Julie commanded.

"John, did you read your father's journal?" she asks again.

Staring at the big brute next to her, I continue to lie and say, "No."

"Where's the journal, John?"

"It's in my office."

"Where specifically in your office is it, John?"

"Just... you know... in my office."

Stevens walks over to me, and when he's about to put his fist into my face, I say, "In my office, in the top desk drawer, inside a blue folder."

Julie tells Stevens to fetch the journal.

I sit in the chair, stare at Julie and say, "What are you doing, Julie? Have you been involved in this madness since the beginning? Did you kill Claire?"

"What? Did I kill Claire? John, I know you don't understand right now, but you will. You must trust me, John," she says, trying to convince me.

"Lady, you're one screwed up bitch! You and I don't know... the president, and that psycho you have... Stevens, you're all loony! I don't know what your plan is, but I don't care anymore. We're all doomed! Everyone is doomed! I just hope that you..."

"Here it is, Dr. Nguyen," interrupts Stevens, as he returns with the journal.

Julie takes the journal from Stevens, walks over to me and says, "Read page nineteen, John. You'll find your answers there."

I take the journal from Julie's hand and throw it on the floor. I stand, put my face in Julie's face, and emphasize strongly, "Kiss my ass!"

Julie bends down to pick up the journal, goes to the desk, sits, and begins to read page nineteen.

The serum works! We did it. We didn't think it would, but it does. Raymond is a genius! After two years, Jonathan is restored; but most of all, he's cured. While his vision hasn't been completely restored yet, all other bodily functions are normal. This new discovery is going to cure millions of whatever disease has been inflicted upon them. But one question still remains: What will the future have in store for him?

I continue to stare at Julie wondering what she's talking about.

As Stevens moves towards me, I jerk in my chair waiting for the unexpected to occur. Instead, he sticks out his hand, holding a picture. "What's this?" I ask.

"That's you and your dad, John. Do you remember when that was taken?" asks Julie.

I try to recall the event, but I haven't any recollection.

"You were five then, John. Is there anything in that picture that recalls any memories?"

I scan every part of the picture, and then I notice a white building in the background. I look at Julie, who says, "Remember, Jonathan. Remember."
