"I have to tell you something, Janet," Lorelei explained.
"What is it?" the frightened and surprised young girl asked, as they sat down at her dining room table.
"In two days, we're going on an expedition, to an island that was never discovered until now. It's dangerous out there, we don't even know what there is, and—"

Before Carter could finish speaking, her sister Janet suddenly lunged at her and wrapped her in a fierce hug. Lorelei was truly stunned. She hadn't experienced this level of affection from her sister in such a long time.
"Don't you ever speak to me like that," Janet insisted firmly, sobbing. "You are my sister, the great Lorelei Carter, an assassin for good. You will not be killed by a mere island, no matter how unknown!"
