Open All In Due Time ~ A Selection Roleplay

Welcome to my first selection roleplay I hope you enjoy. Now let's get on with the reason the selection is being held.

In a kingdom known as Tempsia a selection is being held and only the king, queen, and eldest prince know the true reason why. The prince isn't well but it's not exactly a sickness and I assure you it's not contagious, it's not a mental problem either. Rather it's much more serious...

The prince is running out of time and I mean this quite literally, so for your explanation please listen to this short story.

When the prince was just born his great grandfather former king Edmund, had the honor of being there and gave the prince a gift. A pocket watch. It may seem silly or plain but it was the prince's most treasured possession as he grew up. The thing never left his side for more reasons than one. It was the only thing he'd ever gotten from his great grandfather because he had passed only months after. The prince took after his great grandfather in personality and spirit which was quite a good thing, for Edmund had been one of the best rulers the kingdom had known.

The prince is now 20 years old and a recent event occurred that would change his life. There was a rebel attack at the palace, they broke in after they knew the royals were sleeping. They had planned to take the prince captive but the guards where coming too fast so instead one of the rebels snuck into the prince's room and stole the beloved pocket watch because it was the first thing they were able to grab. They had made it out of the castle and went to hide in the forest behind the palace. In the forest that certain rebel accidentally lost the watch in the stream, not seeing a reason to go through the trouble of getting it back, left it there. It was then that the clock stopped, the second hand continued to move but minutes and hours stayed still. Water seeped into it and the gears slowly rusted overnight...

Obviously after the rebel attack all the royals were awake, all except the eldest prince that is. He was taken to the hospital, he was still breathing and had a pulse but otherwise he was completely still. No matter what anyone tried he wouldn't awaken. After the rebel attack when the king and queen noticed the pocket watch was missing they sent a few guards to search for it. It was returned to them twelve days later rusted, still slightly wet, and with only the seconds hand ticking. The king and queen had it fixed for when the prince woke up and what do you know the moment the pocket watch was fixed he finally awoke feeling strange. He said he had a dream he couldn't explain.

His family was overjoyed he had finally awoken but the next day he talked with his parents and it was quite a serious discussion for neither he or his pocket watch had been well-, working quite right since. He would end up stopping or stuttering and the clock would stop or tick strangely among other things, the strangest thing might've been that it usually happened at the same time. Through that discussion they decided on a few things, his siblings would be told nothing about this, that he and that old watch were connected more then they had realized up to that point, that the watch was most likely only to last until his next birthday, and that if they had any chance of fixing this a selection was the answer.

The reason why a selection was simply because no one could fix the clock better and since there was no other cure they might just have to rely on the power of love as fairytale as it may seem. And the girl he chose would be next in line for the crown, even over his siblings if he was indeed unable to be saved.
