Friday - September 17

Start from the beginning

"Well, anyway Victor, until he decides when to pull the plug, all we can do is just hope that it'll be soon," Gerald continues.

"You two are a bunch of pussies," states Stevens.

"Just what do you mean by that, Stevens?" asks Victor.

"Oh, come off it, you two. You act as if all of this is Raymond's fault. When in fact it was you, Gerald, who came up with this master plan to kill off every damn human being on this godforsaken planet. Don't act like you're all innocent and unaware of what's happening. You two are..." continues Stevens, until he is interrupted by Georgia Parks.

"That's enough, Charles. Don't you have something else to do that requires your attention?" she asks, with a stern look on her face.

"Yes, ma'am, I sure as hell do." Stevens takes a sip of his coffee and walks out the door, but not before grabbing a piece of toast. "Later, assholes," he says, as he departs.

"God, why didn't he kill that sorry son of a bitch!" says Victor.

"Enough of that, Victor," orders Georgia. "Have you two seen the numbers yet?"

Gerald and Victor both shake their heads no.

"It's five billion deaths, Gerald. Is it worth it?" she asks, as she looks at him with cold hatred because of Claire's death.

"Georgia, it had to be done. You know why; we all know why. Now that it has been done, we need to figure out how to stop it," says Victor.

"Victor... Never mind. You'll never understand how a mother's heart aches when they have lost a child; their only child. I hate you both for killing my Claire!" Georgia breaks down in tears. When Victor tries to console her, she slaps him on the face, and says, "I will never forgive you! Neither of you!" and continues to shed tears for Claire.

Gerald looks at Victor, saying, "Georgia, I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry. None of this was ever meant to hurt Claire... and the baby. I know you don't understand now, but..."

"Damn you, Gerald! May God damn you both to hell! You killed my daughter and grandson! You can kill everybody else for all I care! There's nothing, and I mean nothing you can do to bring them back to me... to us! I will always hate you! I will always hate you both!" Georgia yells, with a high-pitch, squeak in her voice.

Victor tries to embrace Georgia, but stops when he notices an empty, cold stare in her eyes. He knew with all his heart that Georgia would never be the same without her Claire. Georgia notices a single tear trickling down Victor's cheek, and realizes that his heart is shattered as much as hers. She breaks into heavy weeping and allows herself to fall into Victor's arms. Together, they grieve for the loss of their daughter and grandson.

Gerald watches the Parks's grieve together as they uncontrollably weep over their loss. After a few moments pass, Gerald clears his throat, and says, "I'm sorry, Victor and Georgia, but it's time for us to head down to the basement. I'll see you two down there." Gerald grabs some paperwork and leaves the Parks's alone in their grief.

The hallway in the plaza is not brightly lit. Gerald pulls a small flashlight from his trouser pocket to assist him in locating the secret elevator to the basement. When he finds the entrance, he's startled by a clinking sound from around the corner. Not seeing anyone, he takes his phone and punches in the code to open the elevator door. When the door opens, he's surprised by whom he sees waiting inside.

"What the hell are you doing here?" he asks.

"Shut up and get in," the person in the elevator commands. Obediently, Gerald enters.
