A awoke to water to my face as I looked over to see Regina, My owner.
Here in Columbia, if you come from down below and you have no family, you are sold. They say its adoption, but i went to the highest bidder as if I were property.
"Get up you lazy pig!" She yelled stomping her foot in anger as I stood, "Yes Milady." I said bowing slightly as a few pieces of straw fell from my hair.
"Ugh," The blonde groaned, "Get dressed in this," she said throwing a dress onto the ground in front of me, "You're working in the Vigor stalls today." She said as she stomped off.
I flipped her off behind her back and picked up the dress, it was a red striped skirt and a white top that barely covered any of my chest.
I changed into the uncomfortable outfit, Finishing by tying the bow choker around my neck. I looked at myself in the cracked dusty mirror in the corner of the room, I gave myself a nod of approval and ran out of the barn and down the grassy field.
I hurried inside of Regina's Home to serve her food.
I ran into the kitchen and began to make her breakfast, french toast with boiled robins eggs.
I put all of her food on the plate and ran into the dining room to see Regina Sitting there with her little brother and Father. I set Regina's plate down and left the farmhouse, Everyone else already had their food.
I ran outside and hurried over to the bridge forming between here and Olympus Avenue. The copper bridge connected between the two lands and I ran across, passing all of the rich families.
It was fair day.
Thankfully, this year I don't work at the raffle.
Last year, They threw rocks at a pregnant asian woman, she got pregnant via premarital sex.
So they killed her.
This Utopia is actually completely horrid, anyone who didn't fall into favor of society was belittled, their ideas and beliefs being completely overcast by the people more in favor.
Being from the Surface, people automatically expect me to be an idiotic savage; not knowing anything about their "Beloved Prophet" definitely didn't help.
I ran over to the possession vigor stand, and pulled the vigor basket over my head and let its ribbon rest on my neck. Nobody came to the stand, Almost everyone had The possession vigor.
What surprises me is that it's still on the market, it's just used by people to steal from vending machines.
I just stood there when suddenly I saw someone unfamiliar, two people actually.
The first was a man probably about 6'1 or 6'2, he had tan skin and light brown hair. He was wearing a black suit and red tie, He had a beard forming.
Walking beside him was another man, a few inches shorter with dark brown hair that reached a bit past his ears. He wore a peculiar green jacket, it was baggy and had a large pocket across the front. The strangest thing about him by far Was a white porcelain mask he wore that was decorated with a poker face upon the front.
The masked man looked over to me and seemed to be excited as he stopped and turned to the other man, "Booker! Look at-" He was interrupted as the man known as Booker dragged the Masked man along.
"We're on a schedule, kid." Booker said as he dragged along the other man who continued to protest.
I continued to watch the two, they had a strange aura about them.
The two went up to the ticket machine, but the automaton told them that they couldn't enter.
I scowled at them as I realized that they were trying to go to the raffle.
Booker let out a sigh and I could see him try to open the locked gate with no success. While the taller man was cursing and trying to open the gate, the green jacketed man snuck off and came over to the stall.
He stayed quiet as I went off with the whole "have you ever lost a penny to a vending machine" spiel as he grabbed a vigor bottle from the basket. He uncapped the bottle as I continued to speak "With Just a whisper; They're all ears." I said in a hushed tone as the man pulled up his mask slightly and took a drink from the bottle.
I made the figure of a heart and blew a kiss toward the man, trying to not show my discomfort.
After a solid 10 seconds, the man finally spoke
"What was that?"
Before I could answer his question, Booker called over the man.
"Cry, we gotta find a way inside." Booker said as the masked man looked over to him, "Aye Aye Captain."
The strange man swiped another vigor bottle from my basket as he hurried over to Booker.
The two men went back over the Ticket machine; this time, the masked man released the green ghost like creature toward the automaton, giving the machine an ethereal green glow.
The two entered the gate just as I began to speak,
"Cry?" I said quizzically
"What a peculiar name."
