"How's Bucky doing out there?" You asked Steve as you both sat on his bed facing each other.

"He's okay. It's hard out there I imagine but he doesn't talk about that much. He doesn't want me to worry but it's a war. I know it's a struggle."

"I miss him." You dismally said.

Steve gave your hand a squeeze, "So do I. He'll be back soon."

"He better be." You smiled.

"It's getting late." He announced.

You looked around to realize that the sun had been replaced by the moon.

You sighed,"I don't want to go, I should be spending all the time I can with you."

"Then stay." He urged.

You gave a gentle groan. "I have work in the morning."

"Well I could walk with you."

"You know it's too far. I've told you."

He faintly smiled," then we should get our rest for the long journey."

"Steven.."

"Oh come on Elle. I'm closer to that part of town than you are. It won't be so bad."

"You can't."

His brows furrowed," And why not?"

"It's.. it's a bad part of town?"

"All the more reason for me to walk you."

"A cab is safer." You argued.

"Then I'll ride with you."

You mentally argued on what to say next.

"Honestly doll. I don't know why you're fighting me so much. Just let me take you to work."

"Another time." You began getting up and reaching for your coat.

He stood up as well but crossed his arms,"No."

He knew you were hiding something.

He wasn't much taller than you but this time when he approached you it was slightly frightening.

"What's going on Eleanor?"

He only called you Eleanor when he was serious or upset.

This was definitely a mixture of both.

"Nothing Steven."

His eyes narrowed.

"We don't lie to each other Elle. That's not us."

"I can't tell you." You announced in a whisper.

"Why not?"

"You won't like the answer."

"What does that mean?" He questioned, his voice growing louder.

"I just can't tell you."

He groaned and ran his fingers through his hair.

He was frustrated that you were talking.

"Well it's not like you told me you were going off to fight in the war." You rebutted.

His eyes widened," Stop bringing that up! This isn't about me right now. This is about the fact that you're hiding something from me. What is it?"

"God Steven! It's nothing. Could you just relax for a second? You're smothering me!"

He nodded," So that's what this is now? 5 minutes ago you didn't want to leave now all of the sudden I'm smothering you. Don't be ridiculous."

"I mean it." You lied.
