"Uggghhhh!!!" I sighed again. I just sat there in front of my desk and stared at the wall with anger. I was really boooored!
Why did I ever have to move to this big city? Cutting all the connections I knew from that safe, calm town I used to live in? Well..there was still one friend who moved with her family to the same city I moved to . By chance.
It's okay. I didn't like my friend Chelsea much. But it was the only friend I had since everyone in high school were such dorks to anyone new.
At the thought of her, Chelsea called my phone and I answered it quickly,"hey, Chelsea!! Long time no seeee!!"
"...I saw you like, yesterday," she answered with a little bitterness.
"I know, I know. So what did you want??" I asked a little anxiously. I needed anything to get me out of this hell apartment in Any way possible. I was desperate.
"Well, I was thinking of dropping by and see you."
"How about we go out?" I asked.
"Well, where to?"
"A coffee shop. Anything."
"Hey, I know this cool cupcake shop where your mouth waters at the sight of the cream and sprinkles. Should we go there?"
I nodded. But then I face palmed my self since she didn't see me and said, "yeah, sure. Meet you there in half an hour!!" I hung up.
>>Time skip>>
"Oh, gosh! Alvina, your face is covered with pink cream!!" Chelsea laughed at me really hard. I couldn't fight the urge to do something stupid in the cupcake shop in front of all that cream.. And people. Geez, they just stared at my like I was crazy or something.
"Umm.." I looked up to see a waiter staring at me with utter confusion and with the bell in his hand.
"What?" I asked as if nothing was wrong. Nothing was wrong actually. People just loved to take everything too seriously, that's all.
"The..bell," he finally remembered what he wanted to say after fighting the urge not to laugh.
"Here. And here's a tip if you try to stop staring at me like I'm some lunatic, geez." I gave him the money and left with Chelsea after wiping the cream from my face.
I sighed heavily. People were so boring and they always wanted to do the same thing thinking it was fun. But, I, on the other hand know that you can't pretend that doing something more than once is any fun. I was always the one to challange myself to go beyond the limits in my beloved town. Maybe that's why my parents decided to take me to this big filthy city. In their opinion, it was tooo dangerous to do anything ridiculous here. They wanted to prevent me from doing such things. Ha! They should've known their own daughter better.
I finally found a library and dragged Chelsea inside.
"W..what are you doing? You hate libraries." She almost scolded.
"No dear Chelsea. I hate sitting around with a book in libraries and being silenced by old, grumpy people." At that, she looked confused. But nevertheless, I stood with her in front of a looong book case. I took off my sweater I wore since the weather was a little chilly. And I gave it to Chelsea and started climbing the shelves. Yes, climbing. Litteraly.
"A..Alvina! Get down there! What are you doing??"
I looked down at her after climbing a couple of shelves and said, "you sound like you didn't even know me from our town." And continued climbing really hard until I fell off the shelves with a book that hit my stomach.
"Alvina! Are you alright?"
"Hey, what are you both doing??" A man, appearantly who works in the library approached us.
"Sorry, mister. I was trying to get that book." I said after getting up and holding the book that hit my stomach.
"Well, there are ladders, you know." He scolded.
"And appearantly, I have legs and arms to climb you know," I returned his angry stare.
"That's enough. I had enough of you kids. Get out of here!!"
"NO! I'm an American citizen and I have the right to use this public library!!" I yelled and headed to another book case. And the man decided to give up on us, I guess.
I climbed the new book case until I reached the very top of it. I guess the librarian was busy in the bathroom because he finally noticed me when I was looking down from up above.
"Hey, kid!!" He shot me a glare from down below while Chelsea face palmed beside him.
I stuck my tongue out at him and threw two heavy books from the upper shelf that hit his head that he fell. I climbed back down as fast as I could and took Chelsea's hand and broke into a run outside the library, of course.
We finally stopped at another block, breathing and panting.
"That was so stupid, Alvina. I can't believe I let you do this."
"Now that was fun. Did you see the look on his face??" I laughed even though she looked pretty serious.
"Dont lie and say you didn't enjoy it."
She grinned widely. I got here.
"I guess I did. But I'm sure I'll eventually end up in jail because of you. Anyway, I need to go home. Mom would be worried sick because of this new town." And with that Chelsea left me on that street corner while the setting-sunlight escaped through gaps between the buildings.
I strolled down the street. It felt empty , though. The streets were never deserted in such a city. But I didn't bother. It reminded me of my town. I had to stop thinking about it that much, though. It was awfully nostalgic.
Suddenly I heard light footsteps besides the brush of the wind from behind. I turned and saw no one. Only a figure that was swallowed behind a corner in an alley.
It was already dark. But I reeeally had the urge of curiousity inside of me that dragged my shakey body towards that alley.
What I saw next was unbelievable and utterly horrifying. A boy almost my age(16-17) was crouching over a dead body doing..something and he turned to me at my loud gasp. I wanted to get as far as I could from there. But I just stood like that dumbfounded with my mouth agape.
"You," he pointed at me as he stood, wiping what looked like..oh, my gooosh. Blood!! From his mouth and looking at me with piercing eyes.
In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of me and he bit me. And I suddenly felt dizzy and fell back while the dazzling stars danced in my vision in the sky until I blacked out.
