You waited anxiously at the front door of the apartment. You have been calling McCree for hours but got nothing. McCree always made sure to keep in touch with you when he went on his mission. Being the lover of one of the most wanted outlaw's was not an easy ride but despite all the obstacles, you loved that man like none other. He was your other half. Your soulmate.
A shaky sigh escaped your lips as you continued to drag your bare feet on the wooden floor. A feeling of restlessness wouldn't be leaving you anytime soon until Jesse McCree walked through the door. The sound of footsteps from behind you made you turn your head around to see your best friend, Hanzo Shimada.
Hanzo stretched his arms above his head, his tired brown eyes adjusting to the evening light coming through the living room window, he must have woken up from his nap. His black hair that was commonly tied at the back to suit his undercut style was loose, falling onto the right side of his face. You giggled at his dishevelled look, you didn't dare point out that his black tank top was rolled up a bit too high, or that his dark blue denim jeans were showing its wear and tear more by the day.
A small smile traced the outer corners of Hanzo's lips but soon raised his brows as he stared at you intently.
"How long have you been pacing? I thought you were going to take a nap."
You rubbed the back of your head nervously, "Well I was going to but my mind was too riled up to sleep."
"Worrying about McCree will not help you (Y/N). I have known McCree for years, he is fine and always gets out of dangerous situations before it takes his life." Hanzo spot each syllable clearly as if to make a statement.
His cold and clipped words made your heart ache but you knew that deep down Hanzo did care for the cowboy just as much as you did.
Hanzo walked closer to you as his hand gently patted your head in a soothing gesture. Closing your eyes, you relaxed in his touch. You were so blessed to have Hanzo support you during these tough times.
As if by coincidence someone opened the front door swiftly, the door slamming into the wall with a crashing sound. You and Hanzo turned your heads in the direction of the noise to see a very dishevelled McCree, panting out of breath. You noticed his hat was missing and his red serape was torn badly at the back. You wanted to cry and embrace him right then and there but you froze where you stood when you started into his chocolate brown eyes.
McCree's face was grim and pale, his eyes reflecting a dark emotion that you had never seen before. You couldn't utter a single word as McCree bore his eyes into you, you felt vulnerable and scared.
After a moment of silence, McCree removed his serepe from his shoulders, throwing it onto the living room couch before rubbing his face and groaning at the pain from his left cheek.
"Honey, (Y/N) I don't want you to freak out but you must leave immediately," McCree hesitated, looking at Hanzo, "You must go into hiding and get as far as you can from here. Talon know's where I am and things will get sticky from here on out."
Go into hiding? What does Talon want with McCree now? Will he be alright? So many questions were running frantically through your mind. Your world left like it was spiralling in circles. A cold numbing sensation sat in the pit of your stomach as you tried to take in McCree's words.
Noticing your panicked state, McCree wrapped an arm around your waist and moved you to the couch to sit. Sitting in front of you now, he took your small hands into his and spoke gently.
"Don't worry about me, darling. I have always gotten myself out of this kind of trouble before. I promise you that I will come back to you. I will fight for you. Hell, I will fight for us." his voice cracked at the end from emotion. The two of you were scared but damn was McCree going to fight until the end.
