"How being nice is relevant now? I remind you that we have to choose the more suited candidate for the position of junior programmer. This is not about deciding who we should eat a pizza with in order to have a good time" he answered bitterly.

"What happened to you, Ricky? I find you pretty hostile, this morning" Chiara exclaimed, laughing and trying to relieve the tension. Actually, she wasn't really upset about his colleague's bitter joke. She knew Riccardo as her own pockets, and it wasn't just a way of saying: they'd been engaged for seven years and even after the breakup they remained good friends and kept working together.

That is why Chiara knew better than anybody else that, if under pressure, he could get a little rude. But deep down it was because he really cared about doing things properly, since, as he used to say, he liked "to work, to do, to create", or, as sometimes she used to remind him, he was "basically kind of a nerd". That day, their task was to complete the research for a new member for their team, and Riccardo cared about making the right decision as soon as possible.
