Chapter 3

Xephos

Morning had broken, and Xephos began working on the new home the three of them had found and make it durable and cosy as possible. The dwarf had woke up straight after him, and began to go mining for resources whilst he left Xephos and Caeryn on their own.

He couldn't help but peek through the door once Honeydew left, and he spotted the many torches scattered all over the floor - still brightly lit. Picking them up one by one, Xephos was looking around the scene, analysing the green environment. The cave entrance was only a small part of the large mountain range which stretched for how far knows. He almost stumble for trying to see the peak, only to then drop the stack of torches again.

"What are you cooking?" He asked her sister whilst he passed her near the stove.

Caeryn replied in the same language, "The thing Honeydey made for us,"

"Oh." He can only reply, but then pointed at the back of the cave. "Well, I'm going to make a back door. Come help me out when you're done."

Xephos continued his reinforcements, making sure to even and balance out the walls from the wooden floor. He even placed some glass which his sister had decided it'll look nice. Even then, he had assumed it was for them to spot for any monsters that lurked under the back entrance of the cave. He was still horrified and slightly traumatized at the odd creatures of the night, ever since having to fight the remains of a human formed body and the bones of them as well, firing arrows at him and the dwarf as they had ran through the night.

Honeydew came back, and Xephos what the man had heaved back. Tied in a rope was a brown creature, which made a large sound. Caeryn couldn't help but pet the brown creature, before fawning over the smaller pink creature with a snout. Whilst Honeydew told the two to place a fence, he had wrapped the two ropes around them, which Xephos had got the hint on their purpose.

"So this is a cow," The dwarf patted the brown one, crouching down beside it. Caeryn and Xephos stood next to him, awed at what he was doing until he had whipped out a bucket. Silence had fallen until there had been a bucket full of milk being passed to Caeryn.

His sister asked, "What is this?"

"It's milk," Honeydew pointed out. "So we can cook with it."

Xephos was more curious on the pink one. "What is that?"

Turning around, he had seen the ginger man's eyes glisten as he walked around and patted the creauture's back. "Now this...is a pig."

"Pig?" Caeryn stiffled a laugh, though still interested and surprised at the cute little thing.

Xephos knew in experience - however - that these creatures may not last long. Because he knew that their death was always near when it came to food. It was best not to had mention it to his dear sister, and instead allowed Caeryn to fix the roof whilst Xephos had went to his bed. There: he unpacked all of his belongings from the bag he was forced to use and fill up as much things as possible.

Continuing his rummage, he heard a small metallic piece fall on the floor. Xephos looked down and found the two things that were so very special to the both of them.

Their communicators.

He picked them them up, studying the two separately. One had broken it's part for interstellar communication whilst the other had lost it's casing. Xephos, being skilled in his planet's machinery and technology, he knew that fixing these will make their survival much easier. It meant that they can communicate with Honeydew without having to take baby steps.
