Prologue

~Alaina~

"Camilla calm down it was just a smile" I said trying to relax my crazy friend from pouncing on her crush.

We have been together since middle school and my loyal friend has stuck by till now. As we relaxed on my couch we discussed our events as usual with our sickly busy lives.

"I know you told me this about a hundred times but you shouldn't be talking! You get goo-goo eyes, too when you see Mr. Hottie!" She shouted pouring her finger at my accusingly.

"It's not a crush it's-"

"Affection, I know you say it all the time too!" She pouted.

And she is right. I'm not one to usually have a boyfriend but that doesn't mean I don't ogle at a fine peace of specimen. Let me tell you there are few that I'm able to spot at my school unlike my very picky friend. Funny thing is that I see so many I call it an affection over these guys and nicknamed them the "View". You can say I'm a bit boy crazy but put it as you like. I'm open-minded about my options especially guys.

"He isn't even supposed to be called one of your Views since you at least talk to him and talk about him more than the others" she stated.

Camilla is right about that too since I've known the guy through my sister's best friend and talk to him on more than one occasion to know a bit about him. We usually meet up in groups to hang out at his place. Even adding the awkward moments his brother teases us but still I wouldn't completely call it a crush.

Right when I was about to respond back I was interrupted yet again.

"What are we talking about?" Mike said carrying a box of pizza in my room for movie-Marathon night.

"Alaina's crush on Alaric and how it isn't a crush but an 'affection' towards him" Camilla said rolling her eyes.

I wonder if it's possible to actually get them stuck up there.

"Well it's pretty obvious she is, she just doesn't know it yet".

"Hey!"

"Come on Al! I've known you for so long and you have never mentioned a guy as much as him." Another good point since I've known Mike in 2nd grade.

"Fine! It's a crush better?" I shouted tired of their persistence. I've been hearing this for over a year so might as well just accept it.

"Yay! Ok now grow some lady balls and tell him" wait, what?

"Why would I tell him?" Questioning my mentally unstable friend.

They both looked at each other as if I was the crazy one in this room.

"Well I think he likes you back" she stated stubbornly.

Thinking back, I'm actually curious too since his brother keeps teasing us. It just happened and there are so many awkward moments but I don't know.

"He probably doesn't" I said unsure of myself.

"How would you know if you don't ask" Mike said.

True. "Guys I just admitted not five minutes ago and you want to me to tell him now?"

"You have been crushing on him for three years now, you just admitted to us but we know you admitted it to yourself a long time ago." Cam said making me love my best friend even more. She knows me so well I think I cried a tear.

Breathing in heavily I grabbed my phone and opened up my messages. Having known him since our brother and sister were best friends for so long I acquired his number along their friendship. Looking at my friends they gave me an encouraging nod.

So... I just wanted to tell you that... I like you and I mean as in more as I friend but if you don't like me that's cool... if you do that's cool, too. Just thought I should let you know.

To: Me
From: Alaric
I'm sorry but I like you as a friend.

To: Alaric
From: me
Cool just do me a favor and please don't tell Rebekah.

Quickly I closed my phone and put on a smile. I don't know if it's real or not but I'm full of adrenaline to find out.

"So?" Cam asked cautiously.

Not wanting to answer I threw her my phone so she can read the messages and turned to Mike.

"So who is your latest conquest?" I asked smirking, acting like nothing just happened.

Looking at Cam I see how her face frowns and she smiles sadly at me. Smiling at her back and shaking my head I mentally told her that I am fine. Which I surprised myself cause I really was, I mean it felt like nothing so it wasn't major. I just hope it didn't affect our friendship and things wouldn't be awkward.

"Oh! Ok so there was this new girl and..." Mike started.

Didn't I mention that Mike can be a fuck boy sometimes?
