Sang is chosen for the Culling, a series of fights to the death that are generally played by men. In fact, Sang is the first woman selected, well, ever. As the games start, and Sang forms bonds with a group of nine men, she comes to realize that the...
"That is not true, that scrawny, nerdy guy would watch her sometimes. There were times I saw him leave food out for her to find. I know that Maro was from a poorer family than most, and she always looked hungry and scrawny." Rocky pointed out. "That guy seemed interested."
Jay raised an eyebrow at Rocky. "I never noticed anyone else looking at her - and I didn't know you paid that much attention to her. I thought you gave up on Sang ages ago man."
"That sounds kind of pathetic dude." One of our group mates called out from down the table. "Especially because she's a tribute now, you can't date her if you have to kill her. So it really doesn't matter how interesting her past is now, does it?"

Sang
I was in the middle of nibbling on a piece of toast that Luke had lathered with jelly and put on my plate, when a pristinely dressed Capital representative came to our table. She stood out mostly because she was a she - most of the staff that I had seen since we arrived besides Karen and Juliana were all men.
"Miss Sang Sorenson," She stood at the foot of the table as she addressed me. "I will need you to follow me please." She gave me an expectant look.
She clearly planned for me to stand up at once and rush to her side. I was stunned still for the moment, however.
What had I done now? What else could possibly go wrong? Did someone find out about what happened this morning and I was going to be in trouble?
"What's wrong?" My voice shook as I looked at her. She seemed kind, but what reason would this prim looking woman have to seek me out?
I started to stand up out of my chair, but Mr Blackbourne, who was sitting across from me, gestured for me to wait.
"Why does she need to go with you?" He got to his feet, as did the rest of the group. "If this about this morning, both groups have decided to wait until the arena opens for retaliation."
"I am not sure about what you are referring," She gave Mr Blackbourne a confused look. "This is not a disciplinary meeting. If that is why you are worried about. I promise you that no harm will come to Miss Sorenson at this time."
