Max's POV

I walk home alone since Camille had an appointment after school. I think about what Laney said to me. What does it even mean? Why wouldn't Harvey be okay? Unless... no..no..that's not even a possibility. But clearly he's been talking to Laney, but he's not supposed to. Brother Rule of Code, Rule #3 don't talk to each other's EX's. Laney isn't exactly an Ex though..we broke up because well..that's another story.

I find Harvey outside laying on the grass. I have the strangest twin.
"Harvey?.." I ask getting closer to him
"Hey Max." He says
"What are you doing?" I ask
"Thinking." He says
"About?" I ask
"Everything." He says
I slowly nod.
"So about Laney.." I start
"What about her?" He asks
"She um..came up to me and told me to make sure you were okay..?" I say
"That's strange because I'm perfectly okay." He says
"Have you been talking to her?" I ask
"No. Brother Rule of Code." I say
"I know, I know..I was just making sure.." I say
"Well I'm fine. I don't know what she's talking about. Making up stories." Harvey says and shrugs.
I nod. Something tells me he's not telling the whole entire truth.
"See you inside then." I say
He nods. I walk back inside.
I go up to our bedroom and look through Harvey's drawers. I know this is invading privacy but I have to know what's wrong with him, because something is. I find nothing. What is that boy hiding? We're twins we tell each other everything, why can't he just say what's on his mind? I decide to take things to the next level.

"Hello?"
"Laney?" I ask
"This is she. Max?" She asks
"Hey. Um..I talked to Harvey...I know something's wrong but he's not telling me." I say
"That's what I thought too..." she says
"So you have been talking to him?" I say
"Yeah..we have. Nothing serious." She says
"Can you please try and figure out what's wrong?" I plead
There's a pause.
"Harvey hates me and I can't do anything about it." She finally says
"Why?" I ask
"Reasons..but I'll try." She says and hangs up
I sigh.

At dinner I watch as Harvey picks at his food. Swirls it around, eats a small bite and does it all over again.
"Harvey are you alright dear?" Mom asks
"Yeah I'm good." Harvey says
"Do you not like your dinner?" She asks
"No I love it I'm just not really hungry." He says
"Did you eat a lot at lunch today?" She asks taking a bite of her own dinner
"Yeah. I'm sorry I don't mean to be wasteful." He says
"No worries dear, maybe your father will want some of it when he gets home." She says
I think back to lunch, Harvey barely ate anything then too. He stormed out of the lunchroom and never came back.
"Mom can we get going to the game?" Leo whines
"Just a moment Leo. It doesn't start until 6:30." Mom says
Leo grunts.
After another 5 minutes we all finish our dinner.
"Do all of you want to come to the game?" Mom asks
"Sure." I say
"I guess." Harvey says and shrugs
"Well lets go, I don't wanna be late." Mom says motioning us out the door.
Everyone piles into the car. It's a short ride to the school. Mom Leo and Tilly head to the bleachers, leaving me and Harvey alone to do whatever we want.
We stand awkwardly in silence.
"Max over here!"
I look over and see Camille waving me over sitting with Lizzy.
"Wanna go over?" I ask
"Sure." Harvey says
We walk over to both of them.
"Hey Max, Harvey." Lizzy says
"Hey." I say
Harvey nods.
"Are you still down in the dumps?" She asks
"I was never in the dumps." Harvey says and sits down
"Well okay then.." Lizzy says
I sit down next to Camille.
"He's still acting up?" She whispers
"Yeah, I don't know what's wrong. He won't tell me anything." I say
"Weird. He's never been like this has he?" She asks
"No. I have no idea what's wrong." I say
"I wish there was a way we could get through to him." She says
"Well I was talking to Laney, and apparently they've been talking with each other so I was hoping Laney can get through to him." I say
"Laney? The snobby cheerleader?" Camille asks
"Yeah..um anyway hopefully it will work." I say
"Yeah. 'Hopefully'" she says using air quotes
I shrug.
