Red lips, arched eyebrows, narrowed eyes,

She personifies sadness, yet stays in disguise,

Concealer over her bruises and angry cuts,

She knows to carry on living, with no buts.

He is so sick, so wrong, yet she loves him still,

She doesn’t care that this love can kill.

The darkness caresses her scars with love,

The angels watch motionlessly from above.

More in the cauldron, then giving it a stir,

Blood and pain and love from inside her,

Everything becomes too much, boils over the top,

They see it, yet the torture won’t stop.

Smeared lipstick, torn dress, all black and blue,

He treats her so badly, yet to him she stays true.

She chokes out her last breath, he cries in despair,

He has finally broken her beyond repair.

Apologies will never be able to solve this fight,

Her candle will never be able to re-light.

He traces her face, then softly closes her eyes,

She is so pure and beautiful without a disguise.
