Becoming Visible

Play a sad song on your guitar, sing a sad melody to the sky,

Write a letter to that someone, then throw it in the trash with the others,

Find a perfect word to describe how you feel, then realise you can't speak.

I let a tear out, let it all out, empty out the dead inside my broken chest,

It's too late to apologise, for making mistakes that I now despise,

Yet why should I try, you made it clear you didn't care, when you walked away.

Sit in the shadows, feeling sorry for yourself, watching life go on around you,

Pretend not to care that no one seems to realise, you were always right there.

Scream and shout all you want, no one can hear you now,

Cause a fuss, start a fight, they will still treat you like their familiar shadow,

Glued to them by the feet, that they can't shake off, so they just let it be on its own.

Whisper in someone's ear, tell them you love them, they will just shake it off,

Tell them you hate them, they will never forget what you said just that one time.

Stand by a river, take a deep breath, people walk past, they don't see you there,

Join the mud at the bottom of the watery world, then you become visible to some.
