It was a family meeting, I guess. Heather and Aaron were present. I couldn't look at either of them in the eyes. I was such a disappointment.

"Courtney, what happened?" Heather asked me.

I kept quiet.

"Courtney, I asked you a question", Heather said.

"I don't know", I replied.

"Do you know the implications of what you have been doing? You could have been expelled!"

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry wouldn't change anything. Do you know how this affects the reputation of Aaron and me?"

"I said I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me. You don't even now the full story and you just sit there pointing accusing fingers at me."

"Would you watch your tone, young lady? We have brought you into our home, taken care of you. Is this how you repay us?"

I only remained silent.

"You know, I have a good mind to send you back to the orphanage."

"Okay. You can send me back, I don't care. I didn't ask you to adopt me. I don't want to live here anymore. I hate this place and I hate all of you!" I burst out and stormed off.

I was thirsty and wanted some water to drink. As I was coming down the stairs to the kitchen, I heard some voices coming from the hall. I drew closer to the door to listen.

"Heather, I knew this would happen. She looked like trouble from the first day I set my eyes on her", Aaron said.

"Don't be so quick to judge her. Let's give her a second chance", Heather said.

"Second chance? We've given her millions of chances. She doesn't even deserve to live with us anymore. She should be sacked", Aaron said, his face turning red in anger.

"Please. I know what I'm going to do with her."

"Fine."

I quickly left and made my way to my bedroom. Once I got to my room, I threw myself on the bed and cried until there were no tears left. I had a chance and blew it. It had been four weeks since I I had entered into the Carson home and I was going to be sent back to the orphanage. This was the longest time I had spent in a foster home. I had to be sacked from other foster homes for making petty mistakes like breaking china (which wasn't intentional), and preparing food that one of the family members was allergic to. This was the worst thing I had ever done in a foster home and I knew I would not be forgiven.
