Part I • Chapter VII

What was with these guys and the nicknames? Not that I was complaining, cause if they were Kota's friends and he was my friend...

I think friends gave each other nicknames, didn't they? That was a friendly kind of thing to do.

But, I had no idea what he was talking about, saving him. The only thing I had done was embarrass myself.

Kota blinked up at him and stared back at me. He looked just as confused as I felt. "What?"

While Nathan and Silas filled Kota, Mr Blackbourne and the blonde in on what had happened, I couldn't snake the feeling that someone was staring at me.

I peeked up from mine and Kota's joined hands and met a pair of crystal blue eyes. The last of the group that had come out with Kota, and who had been silent until now.

The man saw that I was looking at him, let out a low whistle and came closer to us. "So what the fuck happened to you, you look like you've been run over and stomped on for good measure."

"Gabriel!" Nathan gasped in horror at the man who had spoken. "She doesn't know you are kidding!"

"Who says I am?"

"You can't just tell a lady that she looks disheveled." The blonde frowned at Gabriel, disapprovingly. "That's part of the very basics!"

He stepped in front of me, stretched out his hand and smiled at me. "My name is Dr Sean Green. I am here to attend to your injury."

"Um..." I tentatively reached out and placed my hand in his. "It really is just tiny cut, Dr Green. You really don't need to bother. I've dealt with worse."

He ignored me, put his arm over my shoulders, and before I knew it he was guiding me to a gazebo that was partially hidden off of where we were standing. I was pulled along with him as we entered and he sat me down in one of the benches on the right.

Then he kneeled in front of me and grabbed my injured hand to inspect it under the light. The others had followed us and while Kota sat down next to me the rest remained standing.

I had never had so many people hovering over me in my life.

"Nonsense! What kind of doctor would I be if I let a beautiful woman bleed to death in front of me." He said as he studied the cut.

I knew that Dr Green was up to something, because there was no way I was currently in any danger of bleeding to death. Maybe he may have been flirting, but I never had been flirted with before so I didn't want to make assumptions.

Perhaps this was how he treated all his patients?

Dr Green pulled out a small cloth emergency kit that seemed to have some basic essentials. I never knew that doctors were always so prepared. I looked at it curiously, wondering what kind of things Kota and his friends got up to on a regular basis that required this level of care.

Dr Green saw me watching him and winked. Then he spoke to Kota. "It looks like you really did number on her, Kota. So clumsy."

Kota looked mortified. "Oh my god, Sang! I'm so sorry!"

Was it really that bad?

Nathan and Silas smirked in the background, so there was also that.

I watched Dr Green as he covered the wound with antiseptic and put on a square bandage. Yes, the cut was a few inches in length but it wasn't even bleeding anymore. It didn't seem to be that severe of an injury.

Maybe Dr Green was teasing Kota?

That wasn't good. I didn't want Kota to feel guilty and regret befriending me.
