Phoenix was waiting for her day. Everyday was a day closer to the Phoenix she wanted to be, the Phoenix she truly was. Walking down the halls of her cramped high school was probably the worst part of her day. Judging looks from beautiful girls and weird looks from guys. Of course she felt like she wasn't good enough, like she didn't meet the standards she was supposed to meet up to. Although everyday equaled more stress, she could really care less.
There was something motivating her. Something pushing her. Bangtan Sonyeondan. Embarrassing, yes. But it was the honest truth.
If BTS hadn't been in her life, she'd probably be with some ugly pimple faced high school boy.
But BTS gave her standards. BTS showed her that boys in high school isn't what she's limited to. Especially Jungkook. Jeon Jungkook. So gold so bright. He gave her hope, he reassured her that out there, somewhere, there were people of gold. That her world wasn't going to remain copper forever. That if she kept believing, her life would be filled with gold.
"3 days." Phoenix thought. 3 days until the stress will disappear. 3 days until she saw them. Her gorgeous aunt had purchased BTS concert tickets for her birthday. Expensive, but worth it.
"Oh my god, Phoenix! RUN!" her aunt shouted. The concert had already begun but the line was just too long. Phoenix sprinted, up the stairs down the halls and past multiple rows of seats until she found her seat. Seat number 7, the seat she had been visualizing for days, weeks, months. Had been taken. Some girl with died blue hair and piercings all over her face, not someone Phoenix wanted to negotiate with.
If there's something Phoenix learned from school, it was to not mess with the girl with piercings. She cleared her throat and asked the blue haired girl "Have you gotten the wrong seat?"
The girl unfolded her crossed arms, revealing her Jin t-shirt. She scoffed "Nope this is my seat. You can take that seat." She pointed to seat number 10. Phoenix sighed and made her way to seat 10. Her aunt gave her a puzzled look. She just responded with a shrug. Atleast seat ten was somewhat closer to the stage. Phoenix chewed her nails, anticipating the boys. She crossed her fingers and waited for them.
Break! Phoenix's feet felt horrible, her heels were aching but she got to see Jungkook so she was satisfied with the pain. A short break was granted, the boys needed to change and the fans were exhausted. Phoenix headed to the drink vending machine and put in a dollar. Nothing came out.
She groaned and read the label again "$1.50 for 1 Cold Can!". She needed fifty cents. Phoenix kicked the machine, she had walked all the way out for no reason.
She turned and saw a tall man waiting to purchase a drink as well. Phoenix was positive that she was alone, and blushed when she realized the man probably saw her entire temper tantrum and machine kicking show.
His round glasses and slight mustache made him look like a manly nerd. He asked "Did you need some change?"
Phoenix not wanting to burden anyone quickly replied "No, I'm okay." The man laughed and purchased his drink. He purchased 7 drinks and walked through the staff only doors.
Then it clicked. Manager Sejin! Phoenix had a mini freak out and stepped on something in the middle of her weird chicken dance. A USB stick and 70 dollars! Manager Sejin must have dropped it while picking up the drinks.
Phoenix crept closer to the staff only entrance, and opened the door slightly. It was pitch black. She received a text from her aunt "PHOENIX HURRY, 10 MINUTES UNTIL THEY COME BACK ON!" Phoenix ignored it and walked further slowly. She saw a bit of light and realized that it was coming from the stage, she was under the stage. Light cracked through the ceiling, giving her light to work with. The smell of sweat hit her and she was reminded of gym class. She quickly shook off the thought and clenched the money and USB.
Phoenix continued walking until a running figure suddenly slammed into her. Her body fell over and she yelped "OUCH WHAT THE HELL?!" A blurry figure who smelt of sweat and the type of feminine scent you'd purchase at an expensive fragrance store stared down at her.
He asked "어이 네가 여기 웬일이야?" with a rushed tone. Through her few months of Korean learning, she new that meant "Hey, what are you doing here?". But that voice seemed so oddly familiar.
The lights from the stage above suddenly flashed bright. The man standing in front of her had his back facing the lights. The lights outlined his body, darkening his front body. He looked like an angel. Phoenix couldn't see his face but his figure had already captivated her.
She had heard this voice before, she was familiar with this figur-. Her realization cut off her thoughts. Jeon Jungkook.
