I positioned myself in the seat comfortably, setting my sling bag to my lap. I discerned my mom eyeing me through the front mirror with a look of dissapointment.
I groaned in complain knowing the meaning out of it.
"Mom I'm sorry ok? I was just busy packing and looking for my lipstick. Besides it's first day of school there's nothing to worry about", I whined, looking through the mirror.
Elrey on the other hand is staying still, his hand clasped to the steering wheel, not starting the car yet. Obviously scared that he might get involve in our argument.
Mom's eyes squinted, noting disapproval, "For you but for me there is. I have a very important visitor today to entertain", she impeached.
My eyebrows furrowed in question, "Who is it?"
"You'll know when we get to school", she stated and settled down her seat.
"Are you both done now?", Elrey interrupted but silence was the only answer he received.
He sighed, "Finally", he muttered under his breath and started the car. He glanced at the side mirror to check if the road is clear as he back up from the driveway and to the road.
I noticed the familiar football jersey his wearing, with the name "East Wood" stitched on the back. I remember he was in the team but not anymore. He graduated last year which was a bliss for me cause its a handful with him around. He always keep an eye out for me, especially dad, when he was still working in East Wood too with mom. But he resigned last december to accept a bussiness offer he received from a company in Australia. Its been 2 months now since he left and we miss him, especially mom, I know how much she longed for father.
I sighed in woe, feeling the longing for my father as well and rested my head to the windshield, staring outside, having a glimpse of every house that we pass.
Until I saw a thick crowd of people, carrying bags and cases, all heading to the East Wood University. The huge front gate wide open, inviting in all the students. As for us, we turned to the back of the school where the parking lot is located and the school residence.
As we entered a security guard gave us an entry number and we went in to park.
The school is a massive structure, it forms a straight letter C from behind. Three buildings to be exact, all made up with bricks, which classy but elegant. The middle is the school with a beautiful courtyard and a fountain, and the sides are dorms. Right side are for the girls and the left are for the boys. Theres also 2 landscape swimming pools, outdoor and indoor and full time service dining area and snack room.
The rooms typically have 2 beds, each with a private bathroom, microwave, refrigerator, and other necessary furnitures with individual room temperature. They describe them as 'hotel-style', so you can expect all of the same amenities, except for maybe a mini-bar and daily replenishment of shampoo and conditioner. The doors are even the same kind of card swiping system in lieu of keys. Each dorm buildings has shared community spaces, laundry rooms, study rooms, lounge rooms and game rooms. Its a 20-story building which gives a magnificent view of the city, thats why it comes in with an elevator. Luxurious right?
The tuition is out of this world though, its $10,900 per year, it includes meal plan of course.
Mom first hop out of the car and marched with haste towards the school building, obviously in a hurry.
I hopped out of the car and saw my brother gathering my stuff and unloading it from the trunk. I thanked him and hugged him goodbye, also wishing him goodluck on looking for a job to fill in. Carrying all my belongings with me, I headed to the girls dorm, walking in flounder due to the heavy backpack I'm carrying and proceeded to the elevator, pressing the 10th floor.
