Chapter 6

I sat on the porch swing waiting for Jesus. It was 30 minutes past when his match ended. He told me he'd be coming over after he showers. I waited and waited. 2 hours passing. My dad walked out of the house holding a light blanket. He sat down next to me and covered me with it.

"He's not coming Sky." He sighed petting my head.

I looked at my phone and sighed as I saw no texts.

"He promised me dad." I told him and looked at him.

"You can't rely on boys to keep their promises."

"He's not just any boy though. He's different. Better." I looked at my lap and closed my eyes.

"Well don't stay up too late." He smiled slightly and kissed the top of my head as he stood up to go inside.

I felt my phone vibrate. I looked down and it was from Jesus. I opened it.

I furrowed my eyebrows

I furrowed my eyebrows. I quickly called him.

"Hello?"

"Jesus? Where are you? I've been waiting for you."

"Im hanging out with the team." He spoke kinda harshly. I heard girls giggling and splashing of water.

"But there aren't girls on the team."

"Yeah well the guys invited a bunch of girls over."

"Well will you stop by later? I kinda need you with me to sleep."

"You don't need me. You'll be fine. Hey I gotta go so bye." He chuckled and hung up.

I stared at my phone and my heart felt heavy. Why was he being so mean. He isn't like that. Jesus isn't mean. He knows I'm fragile. I just don't understand. Is it because of last night?
