Pearl was walking along in true love forest as normal, when she heard the faint sound of crying. She started to follow the noise and found a small dragon curled up between two trees crying. She had big blue eyes and pink scales, with white round semi-circles down her spine. Her horns were long and straight with a point at the end. She's just a baby, Pearl thought, approaching the girl.
"Hello," Pearl said in the kindest voice possible, the girl leapt to her feet in surprise but immediately quivered at the sight of Pearl.
Pearl offered a reassuring smile, "it's ok," she said "I won't hurt you." The dragon slowly stepped closer, looking at the princess wide eyed and nervous.
"Where's your mummy and daddy?" Pearl asked reaching out to the girl.
"Um, they g..got burn...burned." The baby whimpered, tears forming in her eyes. Pearl reached out to comfort the girl,
"You poor thing, what's your name?" She asked sympathetically.
"G..G...Gem" Gem stammered. Pearl wrapped the cold child in her wing, cradling her. A small smile formed on Gem's lips.
"How would you like to come home with me?" Pearl suggested. Gem brightened up.
"R...really?" She asked, shocked and excited.
"Of course! Come on, let's get you something to eat, you must be dreadfully hungry." Pearl smiled as she led Gem back to the palace.

When they arrived Gem was astounded, "this is your house!?" She asked excitably, Pearl just giggled. They went inside.
"Mother!?" Pearl called, her mother came in.
"You're back early, usually you..." Queen Truly stopped and stared at Gem while she hid behind Pearl.
"She was in the woods all alone, she has no family, she has no where else to go, oh please let her stay." Pearl informed. Compassion filled the old woman's heart as she stared at the young girl lovingly. Her lips curled into a welcoming smile as she bent down to let her eyes meet Gem's. She raised her head and nodded silently before leading Gem to the kitchen to get her something to eat.
