You were there
From the beginning.
You loved me
You played with me.
I didn't know that you had
all of that free time because you refused to find a job.
You fed me
You bought me toys.
I didn't know that someone
else had to get that food
with food-stamps.
I didn't know that you
were using all of our money
on toys that I didn't need.
You got a job
You travled for weeks at a time.
I didn't know how much we needed that job.
You didn't know how much I cried when you were gone.
We had to move
You made it fun.
I didn't know that in the whole
house you only packed two boxes.
You stoped traveling
You tried to spend time with me.
You didn't notice that I grew up.
You didn't know that I changed.
You started fighting with mom
You always got your way.
You didn't know how intuitive
an eight year old could be.
You didn't know that your
marriage was failing.
You tried to spend more time with me
You fought more with mom.
You didn't know that you were just pushing us both farther away.
I didn't know that you didnt know what you were doing.
We moved again
You sat in a chair doing nothing.
You didn't know that I was
doing all of your work, because
you wouldn't do it.
You started sleeping in the basement
You said mom was having a hard time sleeping.
You didn't know how obvious the truth was. You didn't know that I knew.
You told me that you were getting a divorce
You blamed it all on mom.
You didn't know that I
knew it was your fault.
You didn't know that it was your
fault, or mabey you just refused to belive it.
You showed me your new house
You were really excited.
I didn't know what to feel, I couldn't remember how to.
You took me to your house every other weekend
You showed up at mom's house every morning.
I didn't know what was
going on, it was too much.
You didn't know that you weren't supposed to go to mom's house
every morning.
I didn't know how you weren't understanding the situation.
You decided that you didn't see me enough
You took me every other week.
I didn't know why you
did that, when I was at
your house you just ignored me.
You didn't know why I
didn't do stuff anymore.
I didn't know why I had to tell
you over and over again that I was
a teenager, and we don't do much.
You kept pestering me to do stuff
You wanted me to be fun.
I didn't know why you didn't
just make your own fun.
I didn't know why you kept
choosing to forget everything
I told you.
And some how, after all of that.
You didn't know why you lost me.

Reasons Why
PoetryBack and forth. The little person inside of my head is rocking. Waiting to come out. Waiting to tell it's story. These are things that I feel, things that I think, and things that are real. Trigger warning.
