I opened my eyes slowly. All I could see was darkness. Pitch black all around me. I could hardly tell which way was up or down. There were no walls, no ceiling that I could tell; for all I knew I could be stuck in a box!

"Hello?" I called put. My voice echoed throughout the place. "Is anyone there? Where am I?"

"You are in Wonderland," a deep voice echoed all around me in reply. "And you are trapped here..."

I gasped! Wonderland? The place from my book? I love that place. But... why was I trapped here? Just as this question enter my head, the voice replied once more.

"No one knows, you must find out yourself. Only a few have manage to escape here. I wish you the best of luck..." after these words, there was a flash of silver light and suddenly, my conciousness faded once again...

"Wake up! Please! Open your eyes!" I heard an unknown voice call out. It sounded male, and close by. Slowly, I stirred and forced my eyes open to be greeted by a pale face of a man. He was wearing a black top hat with red and blue flowers long the rim, and he had floppy red hair. His eyes were an emerald green, at the moment filled with panic. As our eyes met, they slowly turned to relief and he slowly shuffled backwards away from me. Shaking my long blond hair out of my face, I pushed myself up into a sitting position and glanced around at my surroundings. I seemed to be led in a field of grass. It was also empty. Looking down at myself, I saw I was wearing... A blue dress and striped stocking? My hair also had a ribbon in it. I looked like... Alice.

The man held out his hand to me as to help me up. I seized it and stood up, brushing the grass off my dress.

"I'm sorry for this sir!"I quickly apologised. "My name is Airi. Please may I ask your name?" He looked at me in surprise, then realisation came across his face.

"Oh, you must be new in wonderland then?" I nodded, looking down and he gave me a sympathetic smile before continuing. "My name is Mark Hatting, more commonly known as the Mad Hatter." Oh! I knew that name from my book!

"Nice to meet you Mark!" I replied, shaking his hand. "And thanks for helping me out!" As I turned to walk away in to a random direction, Mark grabbed my arm to stop me. He offered to show me into town and introduce me to people before finding me a place to stay. I nodded and smile in agreement, thanking him once more.

On our way, Mark and I travelled through many places that I remembered form the book. In the distance I could see the Castle of Hearts. I wonder if the red queen is there? As we reached the town, I saw many little cottages that looked as it they were made from paper; all colourful and bright. All the people bustling around looked happy enough, but I noticed that the few I made eye contact with looked dead in the eyes. How long have they been trapped here?! There was a well in the middle of the town square. Walking closer to it, I saw a sign:

Well of Tears

Wait... is this like the pool of tears? As in full of Alice tears? Mark put his hand on my shoulder and led me towards a bakery. The fresh decent of freshly baked pastries floated through the air. Looking through th window, on particular pastry caught my eye: a piece of hot chocolate fudge cake, the chocolate filling oozing out of the sides. My mouth watered at the sight of it. I looked around to ask Mark if there was a way that I could earn money quickly so I could buy it, but he had disappeared! Glancing around, I finally spotted him. He was inside the bakery and had 3 bags of sweet treats and pastries! Maybe it was for his tea party...

When Mark finally walked out, he handed me a small cardboard box with a blue ribbon on it. Thanking him, I opened it to find the exact pice of cake I was staring at! I looked to him and gave him a big smile!

"Thanks Mark!" I said, " but how did you know I wanted this?"

"Well, I followed your eye line and it lay resting on this cake so I knew you must of wanted it!" I laughed as we sat on an empty bench, tucking into out cakes. Mark was a eating a biscuit with a jammy centre and covered with icing sugar. The rest of the treats were in the three bags by his feet. I bit into the slice of cake chocolate flavours melting in my mouth! It was delicious! How can someone cook something this perfect? Whenever I try, it just fails! I ate the rest of the cake slowly, savouring each mouthful and trying not to get in too much of a mess. Mark laughs at me efforts and handed me a napkin. I took it thankfully and cleaned myself up.

"Hey Mark, why do you have all those cakes?" I asked curiously. He blushed slightly and replied.

"I am going to through a tea party, it's my job in wonderland and it's a chance for you to meet people here," Mark said to me. He really was a kind person, to be doing that just for me! Even though it was his job, he seems like the person who would only prepare for a couple of close friends but it looks like he's now prepared for many more than that. Waving his hand, Mark conjured a pile of invitations in his hand. With another wave, they all flew to different people in the crowds. I looked Don this in awe. Was this true magic? Mark let out a chuckle looking at my face before confirming my suspicions.

"C'mon Airi, time for me to show to to your home and then we can get ready for the tea party!" I jumped up and followed Mark away from the town. Maybe things wouldn't be too bad after all if I can make more friends...
