Your P.O.V:

Yesterday was the happiest day of my life. When they say ' if you hit rock bottom, there is only one place you can go', they really mean it. This couple in their mid thirties chatted to me for a while and they said they loved me and I heard they want to adopt me.

Turns out they will be picking me up next week and they are called the Joseph family. They have a son one year older than me, named Tyler. Tyler Joseph.

It has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

He's gonna be like my... b-brother, right?

I'm gonna have a mom! And a dad!

At the school I'm moving to I might even get a boyfriend and a social life. With people. Nice people.

A week later I arrived at their house. I looked it up and down. The roof was slanted and painted a cream color, while the outside walls were painted a calm baby blue, and there were paved concrete steps and a path leading to the front door. On either side there was grass, freshly cut. It had an earthy smell to it, and the air tasted crisp. They had two cars parked on another patch of concrete to the right of their house. They were both shiny and black. There was also a red bike leaning on a wall separating the patch of lawn with the garage, with white symbols I didn't recognise written on. I presumed this was Tyler's.

I bit down on my lip and walked towards the door. I rung the doorbell once and waited patiently.

A smiling and rosy face of a mother greeted me. I recognised her from before. "Welcome! Welcome, (y/n)! Drop your bags in the living room and follow me to the dining room. I just made meatloaf." She smiled ecstatically and led me into a large room with a piano against the wall, two black leather sofas pointing towards a TV in the center of the room. I dropped my bags down walked past large windows with open blinds to the right of the sofa, to lead through to the dining room with plates neatly laid out on a dark-wood table and a man I saw at the adoption center sitting next to a boy one year older than me (or so I heard).

"Hey, I'm Mr Joseph, or you can just call me dad from now on if you like," He smiled at me and began putting some salad on my plate.

Dad. It felt weird.

"Hello," I said, in the friendliest tone I could muster. It wasn't that I didn't feel extremely euphoric, it's just that I was really nervous.

"And this is my son, Tyler. I guess he's brother now? Or friend? I don't know... I still haven't got my head around this whole thing. Call him whatever makes you feel most comfortable."

Tyler looked up from the meatloaf he was pushing around his plate. He was obviously nervous too. I mean I was gonna be living with him.

I noticed he had deep brown eyes and slightly tanned skin. His short hair was cut in a stumpy, fluffy way. It was actually kinda adorable. His face looked delicate, and sensitive. Intelligent as well, the way his eyes observed. Nothing like the boys I was used to.

"Hey," He said, putting his hand out. Although normally this would be quite a formal gesture, he somehow managed to make it seem casual. His voice wavered a bit. It made me feel so confident and comfortable around him.

"Hi," I shook hands with him and took my seat. I was already feeling at ease, and my life hadn't even began.

The next day was Monday. My first day attending this new school, the same one Tyler goes to.

I ran up the stairs of the school bus (just after Tyler) and watched him take his seat next to this bright yellow haired boy. I didn't get a good look at his face, but I could feel his eyes piercing into me. I took the last empty seat next to a girl with long blonde hair. While we were chatting I could see Tyler and the other boy were whispering about me. They kept on attempting to make 'subtle' glances in my direction. I didn't really care.

Josh's P.O.V:

"Is that her?" I whispered to Tyler, as he took his seat next to me. I turned around in my seat to see her sit down next to this other girl in the year below me. I scanned my eyes across her. She was wearing an outfit that was casual, but it really suited her and if anything I woud say that she was really pretty. I stayed like this - looking at her for only a couple seconds, otherwise Tyler would start to get kinda suspicious.

He was a suspicious guy. He picks up on almost anything.

"Yo, Josh, are you already considering if you should ask her out? She's my sister, man!"

"N-no, I wasn't!" I said staring at him, feeling my face already heat up from embarrassment. "Plus I haven't even known her for a day! " Another thing about Tyler was that he was also very protective, whether he admitted it or not.

"Hey, I was just kidding, chill. But yeah - that's her. Her name is (y/n) and she's a year younger than us. She's cool." He said. I took another glance at her when Tyler was looking the other way. She has such nice eyes, I wonder if I could find a way to talk to her. Damn my anxiety.
