Chapter-6

JingYu watched from the distance as WeiZhou and his friend got out of the university building and headed for the exit. He watched how that arm was casually draped over WeiZhou’s shoulder. He watched as his inner Veela screamed in rage, forced him to go and snatch away his Chosen, to shred the limb that had been touching WeiZhou. But unfortunately- and fortunately for that friend- JingYu was only a part Veela and thus, he reined in his instincts. With difficulty.

Things had taken a turn for the worse after that day. When they kissed, when WeiZhou kissed him back, when he held and squeezed JingYu’s hand before getting out of the car at his doorstep, JingYu thought everything would be all right now. Things would look up for them.

His hopes were shattered as always.

They still talked but there was a wall between them now which JingYu could not penetrate. They met only thrice in two weeks and it was JingYu who insisted on the meeting all the three times. WeiZhou hardly started up any conversation over text anymore. At first, JingYu was panicked, grasped at straws, texted WeiZhou non stop, called him, spent the entire night in front of his house. He knew he was losing WeiZhou all over again and it scared him to no end.

But he had stepped down once realized that his actions only made WeiZhou more distressed. He could not blame his Zhou. He had hurt the boy in the worst way possible, and if leaving him alone was his punishment, then he would take it without complain.

But...

WeiZhou did not look happy and it ate up JingYu’s insides. The boy looked tired and pale. He did not smile anymore and walked as if dragging his body forward.

JingYu had never given any attention his own pain, but seeing his Zhou suffer was beyond his ability. And the worst thing was to know that this was caused by him. Sharp nails dug into his palm, breaking the skin. The sting did not register. All he wanted was to love and protect Zhou after getting him back after a lifetime. But looked like Zhou was not in his destiny. Well, at least this time he would be able to keep his love in front of his eyes. After that? He would make sure no one brought him back from death this time.
