As promised - Chapter 18!
It's been such a long (literally) ride for me writing The Game Changer and I'd like to apologize for going off the grid. I've left my story and my readers hanging. Anyway, to avoid such from happening again, I've planned out the rest of the story! :) Expect 5 more parts until this story finally comes to a close. :)

I'm not sure if my Wattpad friends from 2 years ago still go online here, but this chapter is dedicated to my first ever Wattpad buddy, Amy_TW.

Hope you guys enjoy! Comments and votes are highly appreciated <3

CHAPTER 18

"Are you alright, Rissey?" Marcus asked. He was now seated beside me, trying his best to meet my gaze. For someone I just met, he really seemed concerned.

"I'm fine," I answered. But you're not, stop lying.

"Are you sure? I can still give you a ride home, even if I know you only said that so he'll leave already," he said, trying to make it sound funnier than it really was.

"Yes, I'm sure." Again, lying. "Sorry if this is so awkward, Marcus, but I did have a great time. Maybe we could do this again - minus the part where my boyfriend leaves me hanging for his ex-fiancee," I said. Cut it out, Rissey. Ian is not your boyfriend anyway. Why are you acting so wounded. I shook away the thoughts. I grabbed my purse so I could fish for my phone.

"Shit," I muttered. "Can I borrow your phone, Marcus? I left mine in Ian's car. I think."

"Oh, sure!" He grabbed his phone and started looking for an I-A-N R-A. Before he could finish spelling Ian's name, I interrupted him and said, "no, not Ian. I was hoping I could call Noah so he can give me a ride home. Dial his number, please." He gave me a confused look, but ultimately gave in to my request without further prodding. He called Noah and handed me the phone while it was ringing. It took a while before Noah picked up.

"Hello? Who's this?"

"Noah? It's Rissey. Can you pick me up, please?"

"Aren't you with Ian?" he asked, obviously as confused as Marcus.

"Can you? I'll send you the address," I said, avoiding the topic. I didn't want to have to say it out loud, what Ian did. So many thoughts danced in my head. Actually, dance was too tame a word. It felt more like my thoughts were waging war after war against each other. I didn't what to feel - or what to allow myself to feel. I told Marcus to go ahead, even after he insisted to stay. Before he left, he ordered some cannolis for me. "Might help," he told me before going his way. I was caught between wanting to be alone and wanting somebody to just pester me to let it out until I finally do.

Sunny. I wanted to call my best friend, only to realize once again that I had left my phone in Ian's car. It took Noah about an hour to pull up in front of the restaurant. He rolled down his window and asked a waiter to call me. I sat down and put on the seat belt, just before zoning out.

"I got you hot cocoa," he offered. "It's right here if you want a sip."

"Thanks, Noah. Sorry for being such a hassle," I said. I sounded so pitiful it made me sick. I see his phone on the cup holder right beside the hot chocolate.

"Do you mind if I call Sunny?" I asked. He nodded. "I'll wait here for as long as you need me to. Go take your time." I got off the car and walked to the nearest pole and leaned against it.

I dialled Sunny's number. It went straight to voicemail. She doesn't take calls from unknown numbers. So I texted her first, "I need you, Sun-Sun. - R." In two seconds, Noah's phone was buzzing, Sunny's number flashed across the screen.

You've reached the end of published parts.
