Voices In My Head

    CHAPTER ONE

   "Listen to me Cali" My head jerked up searching for whoever the voice belonged to. "You need to get home now" I looked around again. "Who said that?" I asked no one in particular and stares were starting to come my way. Great job Cali.. Great job.
 
   "Is there a problem Miss Parper?" The English teacher asked with concern. "Am sorry Mrs. Ray, someone was saying I needed to get home."

   That, of course brought a wave of giggles and snickers. Someone even whispered 'freak'. "Silence class." Mrs Ray commanded, with her voice taking just a pitch of annoyance, she added "Interesting, Cali... If you need to get home, you can do exactly that after serving detention." I honestly wanted to smack that fake sweet smile off her face. What did I ever do to her?
  Just as the other students laughed some more, somebody spoke again. "Get out of there now! Your sister is in danger. Get home before it's too late!"
 
   Eyes wide and my heart racing, I packed the stack of textbooks on my desk and shoved them altogether in my backpack. "Please, please, please, Mrs Ray, I need to see my sister now." And without even waiting for permission, without even caring for a go-ahead, I took off running in the empty hallway. Tears threatening to spill, I begged my legs to run faster and hoped nothing happens to my sister.
 
   Please, just two more blocks away...
