𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 isn't new to the life of gangs, guns and wars but when she moves back home she was hoping for a little reprieve of all the chaos.
instead, she finds herself caught in the same web all over again.
then there's 𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐚...
The rest of the day went awkwardly and clumsily, I got lost more than 5 times without Mia and Chase by my side. I had to ask these freshmen for help and they looked at me as if I was going to eat them.
After lazy period Mia came up from beside as I was packing my bag to leave school, "Lex tryouts for cheerleading are starting c'mon!"
"Okay Okay!" I laughed, "Let's go!" I said packing the last of my things into my bag.
Apparently Chase was already on the football team and they were holding tryouts there too so we were going to drop him home.
When we reached the field Mia changed into her cheerleading uniform, as she was the co captain she'd also be helping choosing the girls who made it on the team. The rest of us were instructed to change into our PE uniform in the locker rooms.
After that we lined up in four rows of five, the girls around me looked like freaking supermodels compared to me and it was intimidating despite Mia giving me thumbs up from in front of all the rows. She stood in her uniform which was a maroon two piece with a cropped V-neck top that clung to her torso with white stripes and black stripes marking the edges, the skirt was short and was also marked on the edges in black and white stripes, it also had a small slit on the left side of the thigh. Mia had her hair in a mandatory high ponytail and winked at me before she began speaking.
"Okay girls! So we're going to start of with a basic routine we'll teach you, they we'll play some music and set up a small area where you'll be showing us what you can do, cartwheels, handstands, rolls; the works!"
We started with the routine and as Mia said it was pretty simple, we did a few cheers while the captain, a senior in our school, Monique watched us.
When we began the second bit of the tryouts that's where people were picked off one by one, we had one minute to perform whatever we could and do our best. Monique would whisper into their ear if they got in or not after they finished their little performance, you could tell whether they got in or not from their reactions, one girl even started crying making me anxious because her routine was pretty good.
Soon it was my go to perform in the little circle the cheerleaders had formed to watch; as I stepped up the pop song 'A pocket full of sunshine' by Natasha Bedingfield began playing.
As I stepped up I started up with a simple cartwheel, as I landed on my feet. I flipped backwards earning a few awes from the rest of the girls as they started clapping to the song. When I landed the backflip I stretched back into a bridge and then kicked over again so I stood up straight. I did a final cartwheel before landing in the splits.
I got up and walked to Monique who displayed the best poker face I had ever seen, her arms were crossed and she looked like one of the plastics from 'Mean Girls'.
That didn't faze me though.
"Not bad" she whispered to me, "you're in".
I smiled at her before looking at Mia who was literally jumping up and down in her spot in excitement so I put on my saddest face to tell her the news.
"How'd it go!?" she squealed when I reached her,
"Mia, I-I" I tried to sound as heart broken as possible, which made her wide grin falter.
"I got in!" I said finally, to which she squealed in excitement and gave me the tightest hug.
"Mia" I choked out "I can't breath"
"Oh yeah sorry" the apologised, but I could tell she was too happy to really mean it, "practice starts next week so we'll get you a uniform then"
I nodded in response.
So after changing back from my PE uniform and driving to drop Chase home Mia talked our ears off about how excited she was that we'd all be on the field during the football games.
Normally I would find anyone's excessive talking annoying but with Mia she always seemed to be happy and that made, not only me, but everyone around her happy as well. So when I turned around to find Chase with a similar grin in the back seat I felt happier than I had been in a long while.

Here's chapter 3! I'm not very happy with it and it will get more interesting I swear :)
