「 FRATERNIZING WITH THE ENEMY 」

03 | I'm going nuts, out of my mind, absolutely mental

I could smell smoke before I saw it.

There in the kitchen I saw my brother trying to put out a fire that was burning over the stove, way to high to be normal. He rushed over with a fire extinguisher before spraying the contents all over what I think was supposed to be pancakes.

"This is the second time we've used the fire extinguisher in two days" I pointed out,

"Shut up" he said before plopping down on the bar stool next to me and started sulking about how he can't cook to save his life.

I agree.

I grabbed a green apple that looked oddly shiny from the fruit bowl on the kitchen island where we sat, taking a large bite before immediately spitting it back out into the bin on the floor next to us.

"Yuck what the hell is that!?"

"It's Styrofoam" he replied between chuckles,

"And you didn't think to warn me?!" I glared at Noah,

"I tried"

"No you didn't!"

"Okay yeah I didn't, but it was funny"

"No it wasn't!"

"I have no regrets" he said before getting up and grabbing a green apple from the fridge and throwing it at me.

"What kind of monster puts fake food on the table and watches as someone eats it" I muttered as I caught the apple looking curiously at it as if it's another trick.

Satisfied with it I ate the apple happily while filling Gracie's bowls full of water and cat food we picked up yesterday while at the mall.

I heard a car horn come from outside and said a quick goodbye to Noah before walking out the front door.

Once again I came face to face with Mia's stunning Ferrari staring in awe while Mia signals for me to get in,

"Hi Alex!" she greeted cheerfully while I sat in shotgun,

"Hi Mia" I smiled, wondering how so much energy in the morning.

The rest of the car ride was Mia talking animatedly about how the day is going to go and trying to convince me to joining the cheerleading squad, which she was the co-captain to. I really considered it; it would be nice to join an extra curricular.

When we reached the school there was around 15 minutes till period 1 so Mia took me to the office to get my schedule, locker code and a map of the school. On the way to my locker we met up with Chase and talked for a few minutes.

"Hi Chase!" Mia greeted happily, smiling brightly at him,

"Hey Chase!" I greeted,

"Hi Alex, Mia" He beamed.

The bell for first period rang and we checked out schedules, Mia had Biology and Chase and I had pre calc first with Mrs Jones, what a great way to start the day!

Chase talked about how boring Mrs Jones really was and how she usually fell asleep during the class.

When we walked into the class room the first thing that everybody noticed was me, no not only a few people, everybody.

I turned on my heel ready to make a run for it when Chase grabbed me by the collar and pulled me back,

"Don't make me suffer," I whispered in hopes he'd let me go,

"If I have to suffer, I've bringing you down with me" he chuckled, earning a glare from me.

"Ah Ms Hunter I presume" an old woman with grey hair, thick glasses with a thin frame spoke up from her desk as she squinted at me.
