Into the Depths of Magic

As twilight fell and darkness envelops the skies, a little girl silently watches the starry night sky above with a sad face. The stars twinkle in her eyes but not enough to lighten up her dispirited heart. A woman sat beside her in the balcony of their house.

"Mommy, am I cursed?" asked by an eight-year-old girl, as she looks her mother with innocent bright eyes that starts to water.

Sinapo naman ng ina ang mukha ng batang babae at niyakap. "No darling, what made you think that way?"

"The children in our neighborhood won't play with me. Adults in our society eyed me with fury. They say I'm a burden to our family and I should have not existed. What did I ever do mommy?" And the little girl started sobbing. Her nose and cheeks start to color as she cries.

Bumigat naman ang loob ng ina. Ang bata pa ng kaniyang anak para marinig ang mga salitang iyon. Hinigpitan niya ang pagkayakap sa anak.

"Shush darling, everything will be alright. You are blessed not cursed. Someday, people will see the goodness within you. Your power is not evil so as you."

"Really mommy?" She wipes her tears and eyed her mother again. The mother nod as she placed her daughter's head in her lap, gently brushing her hair with bare hand.

"But why are they treating me like that? What did I do?" At nagsimula na naman itong umiyak habang sumisinok. Natigilan naman ang ina sa tanong ng bata.

As much as she wants to divert the topic, ayaw niyang makitang ganito ang kalagayan ng kaniyang anak. Palaging tinatanong ang sarili sa nagawang mali na hindi naman nito maalala. She hates lying to her child.

"Darling, what happened weeks ago was an accident. It was never been your fault. Always remember that." She chanted a spell and kissed her daughter's forehead.

A dreadful scene entered the child's mind, where it all started...

"Mommy, where are we going?"

She curiously eyed her mother who looks stunningly gorgeous with her red long dress and hair that was turned into majestic bun. While she, on the other hand, was wearing a pink-purple ombré flowy dress and a flower crown.

"We are invited to the mayor's birthday, darling," she smiled to her adorable daughter. "Are you comfortable with your dress?"

"Yes mommy. I love this dress." She twirls in front of her mother as she enjoys her dress. "If it's the mayor's birthday then we should bring a gift mommy!" she exclaimed making her mother chuckle.

As they arrived at the mayor's manor, the little girl's eyes gleam in delight and awe as she scans the whole place. The lavish party is about to start. Many elites with their expensive suits and dresses are scattered. The mayor is about to start his warm welcome to the guests.

The little girl didn't understand the mayor's speech as her attention glued to the chocolate fountain with bite-size fruits and marshmallows surrounding it. Her mouth waters as she spots her favorite fruit.

'Strawberries!'

Tiningnan niya ang kaniyang ina na ngayo'y may kausap na isa ring maganda at sopistikadang babae. She grabs her mother's attention.

"Mommy! Can I go there?" Sabay turo niya sa chocolate fountain na nasa gilid kasama ang mga iba't ibang putahe at inumin.

The place is vast. In front is a platform where the mayor is taking his speech and a huge three-layered cake beside him. In the opposite side are the foods where the yummy chocolate fountain is situated at the end of the long table full of amazing dishes of different varieties. At the center of the venue are the tables to accommodate the guests.
