The bases were loaded, the score now 4-3. I scan the field, and direct my eyes to my coach. She sends me a look saying, "Just swing".

I stepped into the batters box and shuffled my feet to get comfortable.

Okay, lets dominate this! I tell myself.

I lift up my bat, getting into my stance. I wiggle my fingers nervously. I look at the pitcher, her eyes were filled with determination. The first pitch is thrown.

Ball.

I stepped out of the batters box, did a few practice swings and stepped back in. I watch the pitcher. The second pitch flies by. I hear the crack of the bat hitting the ball.

Foul, of course.

Okay, I can do this, I think to myself.

I look to my teammates for a little support. The only support I got was some nods and wide eyes.

I turn my head back towards the pitcher.

She starts the windup. The ball speeds towards me. I swing my bat like my life depended on it.

Crack!

Home run!

I dart to first base, then second.

Come on, come on! I tell myself.

Coming up on third, still keeping my speed. I turn and start for home, my entire team cheering for me.

I hear the ump yell, "And she makes it! Holmen wins!"

My sweaty teammates and I all bunch up, smiles and cheers all around us. We won.
