He opened his mouth to say something but closed it and stared down at his feet looking guilty and making me feel terrible for ruining our reunion.
"Sorry about grandma" he finally said, breaking the awkward silence that settled,
"Don't be sorry," I smiled sadly at him because I didn't know what else to say,
"Let's get you bags from outside and get you settled in yeah?" Noah smiled warmly back at me after a few beats.

My room was already furnished with a king sized bed placed in the middle, a white desk, white draws on either side of the bed and a sliding door that opened up to a balcony covered by white curtains. I had my very own bathroom, walk in wardrobe, and the walls were - you guessed it - white.
I was definitely not used to this.
"Noah I know your h-" I stopped when Noah glared playfully at me.
"Sorry, our house, has lots of space but this is all too much" I said referring to the huge room, "I can do with just a simple room you know?"
"Oh I know" he replied as he placed the last of my bags on the floor, "and besides, it looks like Gracie here has already made herself comfortable" pointing out my kitten which was stretched out on the bed fast asleep. I told him about Gracie on my birthday a month ago, how grandma gave her to me just before she passed away.
"Have a shower and get ready because later you're going shopping" Noah shut the door before I could reply to that,
"Wait what?"
After taking a long and relaxing shower I pulled on some jeans and t-shirt, applying the least amount of makeup; the essentials, and a pair of running shoes. As I made my way down the stairs two unfamiliar faces greeted me.
"Hi Alex, I'm Megan and this is my sister, Mia" the older one said who referred to herself as Megan. She looked around my brother's age, 24, and by they way his eyes twinkled when he looked down at her I could tell they were more than just friends.
