Chapter 1

It's been 7 years and I'm now studying accounting in university. All of us have opened a music café, music 10ve and I decided to major in accounting since it's also my interest and I get to help with the finances in the café, so why not right? Anyway, back to the point... even though I have given up my feelings for Sowoon, but sometimes I think if it is possible for me to find my other half...

Younghyun's POV

"Alright guys! For the final project this semester, you have to pair up with someone and I... have already chosen your partners so listen up!" Mr Jin clapped his hands to gather everyone's attention. The whole class sighed, including me. Please don't pair me up with someone who makes trouble, or lazy! I silently prayed.

"Kang Younghyun and Baek A-Yeon... Baek A-Yeon?" I looked up upon hearing my name but... my partner isn't here and I have never heard her name before? The whole class looked around but no one answered. "BaekA-Yeon ssi? Baek-" Mr Jin was interrupted by a girl, standing outside the class. "I'm sorry for being late! I was slightly delayed at home." The girl apologized. "Congrats in earning a detention session on your first day. You must be the new transfer student, Baek A-Yeon right?" The girl nodded and Mr Jin gestured her to sit next to me. I greeted her with a smile as she did the same. I turned to her and introduced myself. "Hi! My name's Kang Younghyun and you can call me Brian!" "Hello, I'm Baek A-Yeon, just call me A-Yeon." She smiled at me. I nodded and shifted my attention back to the lesson and so did she.

Throughout the whole lesson, I kept looking at what she was doing. I noticed that she keeps on checking on her phone instead of focusing on the lesson. Is she super smart or... wait! Is she okay? She didn't look too good. Did something happen? I shrugged and focused on the lesson again.

"Alright! This is the end of today's lesson! Please remember to submit your draft proposals to me by the end of this month!" Mr Jin reminded us again as everyone started packing. "Brian-ssi..." I turned to A-Yeon as I felt a tug on my sleeve. "Do you mind if we discuss on the project tomorrow? I- I have something on at home." "Sure! Not a problem! Can I have your phone?" A-Yeon looked at me, confused. I keyed in my number into her phone and returned it to her. "We'll need one another's number so that's my number you got there! And if... I mean if there's anything I can help, just let me know! I'm a good listener too! I'll see you tomorrow?" A-Yeon nodded and both of us walked out of the class together.

A-Yeon's POV

"Ahjumma! How's my mum? What did the doctor say?" I ran to the hospital right after bidding farewell to Brian. "The doctor said that your mum would need to undergo kidney dialysis thrice a week. But she refused to." Ahjumma, our home helper shook her head. I turned to my mum, who is currently lying on the hospital bed. Ahjumma left the ward to get dinner for the both of us as I sat beside my mum.

The next day...

After bidding farewell to mum, I made my way to school. "Hey! Good morning!" I turned behind to see Brian standing at the corridor while I took my books for the lessons today. "Good morning." I smiled and greeted him back.

"Are you alright? You look tired." Brian looked at me with concern. I nodded to his question and both of us walked to the class together, awkwardly. I was unable to pay attention throughout the whole day but thankfully the day has finally ended. I walked out of the classroom after packing my stuffs, making my way to the hospital. "A-Yeon ah!" I turned to see Brian running towards me. "Did you forget about our project?" He stopped and catch his breath. "Oh! I'm so sorry! It slipped off my mind! Where should we go for the discussion? Is 4pm alright with you?" I looked up at him, waiting for a reply. "Sure! Let's meet at the pastry shop down the street?" I nodded and bowed at Brian, then making my way home to change.

"Yeoboseyo?" I spoke into the speaker of my phone.
"Yes, I am." I said again.
"Alright, 2pm is fine for me. See you there. Thank you." I bowed as if the caller could see me and ended the call. 

I opened the door to the café and walked towards the counter, looking for the caller. "Just give me a moment, Miss. I'll go get him for the interview. You may take a seat near the window seat over there first." The lady pointed to the window seat and left.
